Greetings all,

As I had mentioned earlier, one of the pieces from the Little Rock show that made a strong, positive impression upon me was Lin Rhea's subhilt fighter. The complex blend of curves and flats that comprise the gurd, subhilt and handle seemed to melt perfectly into the hand. The only problem with that knife was that is was sold by the time I was ready to move on it. :(

Well, that was remedied in fairly short order. I had an existing order with Lin for a bowie, and simply swapped it out for a cool subhilt, which I recently received once it had been fitted with a Paul Long sheath.

Specs are as follows:

9 3/4" blade of Don Hanson's W2, sporting a VERY finely executed hand-rubbed satin finish and a very subtle hamon. Overall length just under 10". Brushed stainless steel fittings and striking ironwood handle.

Chuck Ward did a fine job with the photo:

And Paul did his usual excellent work with the sheath:

This one feels every bit as good as the one that I had all too briefly in hand in Little Rock. And Lin has the completed sister knife to this piece with him in Arkansas. Hmmmm matched duelling set, anyone?

Great job Lin,

Roger

Roger that is a superb package!

Lin is one of my favorite makers and a excellent mentor and great guy!

Hmmmm matched duelling set, anyone?

only if I don't have to duel with you:eek:

That knife is SO SICK!
Great job on the knife, Lin! And Paul, the way the sheath seems to flow out of the upper guard is very pleasing. Ain't one of your fancier sheaths, but it's one of the nicest, to my eye, I've seen.

Roger,

I hope Lin or someone cleaned that knife good, 'cause I drooled all over the place holding it in Little Rock. It felt perfect in hand.

Spectacular. I especially like the large radius to the recurve--makes for a very slender and appealing profile along with the long clip. Congrats.

Roger,

Congratulations, That's a great looking knife. I really love the ironwood.

Lin did a super job. The Paul Long sheath really fits it and of course Chuck really showed it off in his photo.

Your photos are also very nice.

I handled some similar to that in atlanta and told Lin to put me down for one. They feel so cool to hold its insane.

another nice acquisition Roger. Glad you brought it over. I always enjoy our show and tells. Good job by Paul and Lin on this one.

Not only is Lin a superior knife maker, he is also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. I am proud to call him a good friend.

Paul, as he always does, demonstrates his sheath magic.

Great Job Lin,

Robert

I never made a knife with subhilt. But I know that certainly is very difficult to make a knife with subhilt and spacers with the precision of fit and finish that Lin can. The lines are absolutely accurate and knives are clean and wonderful. These knives there is nothing beyond or anything missing. Lin knives are always a source of inspiration for my work. Thank you very much Roger to show us and congratulations Lin.

Great knife Roger. Lin is making some real, real nice knives and his subhilts are gorgeous. This may be my favorite one he has made to date. Paul Long sheath, well you know I am a fan and of course he did more than do it justice.

Congratulations, Jon
