Greetings all,
As I had mentioned earlier, one of the pieces from the Little Rock show that made a strong, positive impression upon me was Lin Rhea's subhilt fighter. The complex blend of curves and flats that comprise the gurd, subhilt and handle seemed to melt perfectly into the hand. The only problem with that knife was that is was sold by the time I was ready to move on it.
Well, that was remedied in fairly short order. I had an existing order with Lin for a bowie, and simply swapped it out for a cool subhilt, which I recently received once it had been fitted with a Paul Long sheath.
Specs are as follows:
9 3/4" blade of Don Hanson's W2, sporting a VERY finely executed hand-rubbed satin finish and a very subtle hamon. Overall length just under 10". Brushed stainless steel fittings and striking ironwood handle.
Chuck Ward did a fine job with the photo:
And Paul did his usual excellent work with the sheath:
This one feels every bit as good as the one that I had all too briefly in hand in Little Rock. And Lin has the completed sister knife to this piece with him in Arkansas. Hmmmm matched duelling set, anyone?
Great job Lin,
Roger
