New at Excalibur Cutlery

You should work with NW knifemakers to carry custom and mid-tech versions of their products in your stores. You should get those same makers into your stores to do product and grinding/"forging" demonstrations. The quotes around forging mean I'm not sure how to manage the regulatory/safety issues.

I think local knifemakers would be a great way to drive store traffic as well as create Excalibur exclusive products.

My office is across the street from the Bellevue Square Excalibur Cutlery.

Another idea would be to create "signature packages" which would include a knife, a pen, and a money clip. Having those for Begg, Ferry, Boguzweski and other local custom makers would be the Corvette in your product line.

We have a new owner at Excalibur who is really interested in running demos and working with Manufactures and local knife makers. I am quite sure next year we will be working on these new ideas (but the xmas rush has already hit us and we are running into xmas stock...)

The blade show in Eugene was a eye opener for us and I know we are going to run event like this in the future. Its amazing how many knife makers small and large are in Oregon!

This time of year our stores are really geared to the Xmas rush with the Kitchen Cutlery and gifts, but we want to be part of the knife making industry, like I said our new owner likes knives (and has been adding lots of William Henry's to his collection... but he a auto fan as well... good thing he lives in Oregon!)

I'm going to pass this on tomorrow to see what we can do...
