From a Boker press release:

Boker’s new Cera-Titan—with a pinch of carbides and a dash of silver particles, Cera-Titan is taking titanium blades to a new level.

We’ve coined a new term just for this exiting new blade material, combining the best of what a ceramic blade and a titanium blade have to offer. Cera-Titan comes to us from the sintered titanium experts in Japan, who have added some new ingredients to the mix to produce a blade sintered out of titanium alloy with an edge retention that could almost rival ceramic. Extremely hard metal carbides and small amounts of silver are added to the titanium powder. Pressing and sintering is followed by a coining process that further compresses the structure of the alloy. This revolutionary process offers the benefits that traditional steel cannot. Cera-Titan blades are 40% lighter that steel, will stay sharp longer than steel, will not rust, and is flexible. One more plus, when sharpening is needed, the blade can be honed on a conventional sharpening system (finish with a ceramic rod for best results). Independent laboratory tests against various blade materials, including ceramic and high alloy stainless steel, confirm Cera-Titan’s superior cutting performance. That says it all. All handles are out of food safe POM material, which is also dishwasher safe. Available in three different sizes.
