Went to the local knife store today and was surprised when I spotted what looked like an Spydie auto. I asked the guy to look at it, and sure enough it is an auto.....
Can't remember the name but it is a nice knife. Very comfortable in the hand, s30v steel. Probably not news to those that are here all the time, but I hadn't heard about them.

Not much talk about them as Spyderco is working hard to ensure that only qualified buyers can obtain them.

I should go to a store and see if they carry any. It would be nice to play with one for a moment or two.

Might be the citadel.

Love that knife. And I don't even like AOs/Autos.

Honestly, I love both. I wish I lived in a place with reasonable knife laws, then I'd be able to be much more in depth about what I like and don't like about them.

It was the Citadel... Very comfortable. The ridges on the sides feel like they would give good grip but not to the point of being uncomfortable.
It opens fairly fast and I like where the safety button is located.

mmmm embassy.... awesome knife and i dont like autos or ao's either. but its an awesome knife

I have heard that Spyderco might be doing an AO but I doubt that as being true, it might be some customer just saying what he thought he heard.

i like the citadel look better-i've played with one and was very impressed-i would take it that the embassy is right up there with citadel

From what i understand only law enforcement and military personal are allowed to purchase autos. :(

The Citadel is a terrific Auto. Spydie knocked it out of the park with that one. Fast as most of the competition, with excellent lockup, and a brilliantly placed safety. I just wish they had found it in their hearts not to drill a hole in the blade... it just weakens it needlessly... I wish they'd "draw" a hole on, in some wear resistant coating, instead, where no whole is necessary... Ahem... But where, might I ask, is the Samaritan? (and Tuff, while we're at it... Where Sal, where, for the love of all that is good and holy and good, is my Tuff... where, where, where!!??)

Sorry 'bout the hole, but it is necessary.

Samaritan is, I'm told, "in-the-works" :o

Tuff - we finally found a maker that can make it. :)

No worries... I don't think I've ever heard of somebody actually snapping a blade at the hole, it's all just theoretical... So now that you've found a manufacturer for my Tuff (at least, 'MINE' once it finally goes to market) how about a pic, or three... or a rough sketch on a napkin, or something... anything... C'mon Sir Sal!!! :)

I got one of those.... They are legal in Kentucky and I can carry mine concealed with my Concealed Deadly Weapons permit, it allows you to carry any knife.

That's the thing in Texas is that I have my CHL but I still can't carry an auto knife but I can carry a 5 1/2in fixed blade on me along with my gun
