So aparenlty I am not allowed to be on auction sites after I have taken my pain meds from surgery. I'm not too upset it's a nice looking axe and is about the size I was wanting, just no head weight listed so I hope it not too heavy. Here are the pics I have so far, kinda sad it doesn't need any restoration at all, even handle looks good.

Said true temper, but that is just a shot in the dark on his part, there are no markings on the head that I can see in the pics, so I Am sure he is guessing with the T.T. label. But for 20 bucks it should serve me fine in the woods. I doubt it has seen any serious use in its life, that poll is too clean. Like I said for what I paid I can't be too mad at narcotic bidding me.

Might be another one of those TT kelly works, depends if you find ridges in the eye. Most Jerseys are 3.5 lbs so that's probably the weight. More than likely on a 32" handle

27 inch handle listed in auction. He had all dimentions listed other than weight. Looks to me like the eye is ridgeless in this pic.

I'd say its a Jersey, a Rockaway would have a shorter pole, upsweep from pole to toe, and slight to heavy curve from eye to heel. It looks to be a really nice axe and a serviceable handle. For $20 is be a happy camper, especially if that includes shipping!

Great score

While you are resting you can spend some time scraping off the rest of the varnish and give it a good few coats of linseed oil

Oh yeah always plan to treat the handles, I have to do something with it, can't live with not customizing it some.

thanks to my drug addled brain not understanding auctions, I am now getting even more axes. I was looking at pictures last night of the house my good buddy just bought, and noticed a nice fireplace, so I asked if he had anything to process wood with. Turns out he doesn't so when this one arrives I am going to clean up the handle and give it for house warming. He will give it a good home.

That is cool. Great "House Warming" gift lol.

We got clocks from several people when we moved to a new place. Not sure if that is a tradition or they were hinting at something.

Bet he really gets a kick out of that. Nice looking axe!

Good friend.

Looks exactly like a plumb I have that weighs in at 4 lbs. I have seen some 3.5 lb versions too.

The rounded ears were a common Plumb Jersey feature, but others used them as well. I would expect it to be marked if it were a Plumb. Really nice score in any case. The handle is nice, but it'd be worth pulling, cleaning up and re-wedging, BLO, etc. Looks like maybe some varnish on the handle ... some kind of goobers. At least you could squeeze a little restoration time out of it. Just an arbitrary guess, but judging by the length of the handle (just as a size estimator), I'd guess that head is not 4lbs.

Definitely a novice here but the lines look exactly like 3-lb and 4-lb (Rockaway or Jersey pattern?) Plumbs I have. It may have been made by Plumb, unmarked for distribution to various merchants and depending on year, may have been made by other various makers for Plumb.

I thought the same thing belgrath(on a non axe related note, belgrath? As in belgrath the sorcerer?) No metal wedge and it loils to me like the wedge only in half the handle, the front looks like it just pintched together. Maybe A rehang? Head is awfully clean I assume he took it off the handle to get it that clean.

Yes, only Eddings spelled it Belgarath... If I remember correctly. It's been a few moons since I read the books.

I could be wrong but it looks like the wedge filling half the kerf is metal. No cross wedge though so that's a plus. I own a PLUMB Jersey Axe and I'd say it looks pretty similar. Mine was listed as unmarked but when I got it sure enough.

I thought it looked metal too hacked. But kinda hard to tell for sure. And you are right on proper spelling bel. It has been quite a few years for me also.
