New Backpack ~ Hydration pack or just canteens?

.....I would also suggest a hydration bladder compatible pack if buying new. Obviously many people love them and the fact that you are asking the question means that you might too. Worst case scenario you use the pack without the bladder inside. Doesn't hurt anything and the cost is not very much more.
 
After buying a Lowe Alpine backpack that included a Platypus-style hydration bladder many years ago, I became a convert. Since then, I've chosen packs that are hydration bladder compatable and I have a Camelbak "unbottle" for those that aren't. I really like Blackhawk brand bladders.

And if I'm not using a hydration pack, I really like Platypus collapsable bottles.

I'll also mention that I rarely clean my hydration bladders other than just rinsing them out with tap water every few uses.
