The batch I posted yesterday of these are all gone but one piece. A few of you asked me to post more, so here they are.
These are all sold now too. Thanks everybody.
I bought a burl when I went to the coast last weekend from an old time redwood dealer who is a friend of my boss. He discouraged me from getting the burl saying "that piece is too hard. it dulled my saw when I tried to cut it". It felt like I was lifting a rock, not a piece of wood. I had to use a brand new blade on the bandsaw to cut this stuff. It reminded me of the last time I was cutting Ironwood.
I didn't get many blocks but I picked out the best ones for the forum. This wood is not stabilized as it is already super hard. There may be a couple tiny hairline checks or voids that could require a little epoxy. This wood was stored in a garage for 20+ years before the guy I purchased it from got it. This is old stock burl that I only find once every year or so. This is some of the really good stuff. I misted the blocks with water so you can get an idea how it will finish.
