Nice work. It's all true, too. I love the BK-2. What a beast of a knife!
Thank you.
Yep it's like a large-ish "pocket-beast", which actually fits my pockets on my cargo pants and BDUs just fine, which makes it even that much better. I usually end up relocating high retention straps such as this one. I have always lowered the retention straps on my old conventional leather Ka-Bar sheaths to make the knife break better on the hip. I really loved the dual retention straps on the Eagle sheath of the Ka-Bar D2 Extreme I gave my nephew as a going away gift when he deployed over seas. I would have likely removed the upper strap but he left it.
However I really do like this sheath as well as any I have seen and better than a lot of them. I love how the belt loop on the BK-2 is designed so that it will go over pretty much any possible belt buckle and that it breaks on the hip well even when the upper retention strap is snapped, those are both big pluses for me. In fact the one possible complaint I can muster so far is that the location of the rivets on the belt loop are forward ot the center of gravity of the knife, which is just barely forward of the first finger, which makes it handle heavy when in the sheath and the knife wants to turn and lay horizontal. I see this as no big deal really the sheath's retention is positive enough that I do not fear losing the knife, and because the pouch kit and cordage I add will counter-balance that weight. Also I think I am going to try to buy another sheath to experiment on with making it a a quick-release drop sheath like I did one of my Kydex Ka-Bar sheaths.
nice post! great pics. i'm inspired to go outside and baton my neighbor's truck in half
Bladite
It may take a while....and be rather noisy...but I think the BK-2 just might handle that
As always, great pictures that illustrate well taken points.
I like the way you evaluate blades and I look forward to reading your continuing comments as you use the knife more.
Thanks Knar, I am glad you enjoyed it/them.
I'm looking forward to it myself
Great review! Just further reiterating my need to get this knife.
Thank you, I've know for months I needed to get this knife. I wish I had gotten it sooner.
These are indeed some of the nicer "work" pics I've seen around here... No offense to anyone else. Really great action shots. Better than watching a video. You make me love my BK2 even more, and make me jealous that I don't have a nifty tang extension on my Gen 1.
Very nice.
Thank you for your compliments. I like doing some video, and I will probably do some video with this one, but I also like to do a lot of macro shots to show details.
It was the absence of the tang extension that delayed me in getting one to start with. I a sure my eyes lit up when I saw the new generation at Blade, that was almost as good as getting to interrupt Ethan's day and spend a few minutes talking to him in person. I would have gotten one then if it weren't for a money transfer issue that had me concerned about the trip home and kept me from spending anywhere near as much money as I would like to have spent.
Dangit Mist. You should be hired by KABAR in their advertising/sales dpt. for your photos. Seriously, it was your review like this one on the BK7 a year or so ago that made me bite the bullet on mine, and now this one makes me want to buy another BK2!!
Please.. don't do one of these on the new magnum camp.
Thanks Jake. I do take the occasional photo job here and there lol, even for some custom knife makers I know locally. I wouldn't mind letting my camera make a little more money here and there
Ah yes, the BK7, awesome blade in the field. I love my BK7, but I really like how this BK2 is less bulky, fits in my pocket and less visually imposing to younger students.
