I love becker knives !
I own two bk24s and these are my prefered small fixed blades.
As a medium size blade I have a bk16 that is a perfect jack of all trades
And of course I have two bk9s as large blades/choppers
All my bases are covered but I still would love to see new becker knives...

How about a bk9 in cpm 3v for example ???
How about a bk16 in m390

I would buy those knives in no time !
Who else would be interested ?

I know that there is and has been a lot of interest and specultion about premium steels for Becker knives. I think that we will see some limited use of S35v/S30v and D2 and maybe a couple of others but for the most part what drives Becker and Ka-Bar knife sales is the value of the products for the relatively low price. I don't think that Ka-Bar is very interested in trying to market $150 -$200 knives. It would force them to break into a whole new market segment and that is both expensive and risky.
Also, making limited production runs is unlikely because of the cost of retooling a redesigning the heat treat protocols. I'm not saying it won't or couldn't happen ever just that it is IMHO not very likely.

I'd be up for them. But as rk is saying a big reason im such a big fan of them is value. A Bk9,2,24 (all really) more than worth what you pay for them. First Becker I got was a 24 just cause I wanted a knife in D2 to test the steel and that could be a user without breaking the bank and after that they just started multiplying. I like 1095 alot but sometimes I wish the 9 could take more of a beating or hold a better edge than it already does. 3v or elmax would be awesome but cost would really be altered. I really wish they would make a BK2 bowie/clip point. I think thats going to be my main fixed blade this summer is the modded clip 2 I got. Would I buy beckers with super steels? Probably but wouldnt have as many and would kinda be as reluctant to use them as hard cause of the price they would be at with the new steel. Id probably get soemthing though. 9 in 3v sounds awesome. Or a clip point 2 in elmax. Heaven.

New becker models ?
We can't even get old Becker models brought back, lol.
(Using a new steel doesn't necessarily warrant considering something a new model. **See below**)

How about a bk9 in cpm 3v for example ???
A 3V BK9 would be a great idea...but at what cost? Part of the appeal of the Becker line is VALUE. Would a BK9 in 3V sell at (at least) twice the current price? Sure, to some degree. Would I buy a 3V BK9 for $225? I honestly don't know. Maybe that's because I'm pushing myself away from buying knives, and forcing myself to focus on other things in my life...maybe it's just because the current performance to cost ratio sets a pretty tough standard.

How about a bk16 in m390
I don't know enough about the capabilities of M390 in that kind of a knife. I love the steel, don't get me wrong...but I think I would be more inclined to go for a BK11/14/24 sized blade, in M390 - especially if it wasn't run soft, and had a decent handle. **THAT would be a new model I would get behind**

I've been thinking about this myself lately. I'm happy with the steel as is, I'd like new designs and lots of them, a whole line, Waiting for Auncle E to get creative.

new steel is a great idea...

i propose that if someone wants that, send me $250 for a knife as a downpayment, and i'll you know, hold it :D

if we get enough money for a given model, we could hire KaBar to make it as a sprint run just for us.

$25,000 by the end of March? let's go :D

Count me in for $50
I love the 1095 Cro Van. Overall it does a great job.
I do think the 11/14 would make a good mule. Use it to try different steel. I might start old with M4 or newer with sv35n.
It would be a less expensive was to play with new steel.

I still say the BK-15 in something like S30v. All the pros of the thin laserbeam that the 15 is, with all the strength of a super steel. Damn that would be sexy

Ka-Bar already has a $1,000.00 knife...

/kidding, of course

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but this thread has been done before, and before that, and before that......and as others have said, it's all about value. Ethan's designs are great, but what makes them awesome is that they don't cost $250.....or more. KA-BAR even makes some knives in other steels: D-2 (BK-24 and the Extreme F/U), the Bull Dozier in AUS-8, A bunch of hunters in some type of DIN stainless, fillet knives in 440A....even the Snody's in S35VN....you get the idea. It's fun to fantasize, but really, that's all it is. From what I remember being posted in other threads on this very subject, Camillus sat on BK-77 (S30V) inventory for years. Perhaps that is why they are no longer in business (at least the way they were....I don't think they even count as a knife making business presently....). Perhaps not. Unfortunately we 500 or so Beckerheads do not make up enough market segment to make it worth KA-BAR's while to manufacture any of these ideas. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Snody's are only still in the catalog because they have inventory they aren't moving...I doubt they're cranking out any more, and I would further speculate that they won't appear in the catalog when the inventory runs out.

But really, I want a Machax or an RBK in CPM3V. I just cannot afford it.

Guys.....

I am one of the easiest sells I know for cutlery and If I have a choice between 1095 at a price point one third that of some of the secret squirrel steels I will go for the 1095........ It really performs well and it holds a damned good edge and it sharpens back up to an aggressive edge in seconds with hand tools.......... What is not to love?...... I own a bunch of blades in S30V and other steels but the ones in S30v I really like are by Chris Reeve and are at useful 68 RC..... I.e. You can sharpen them, by hand in the field with a common Norton stone........ If you want something to hold an edge try Talonite at several hundred bucks a pound.....Now that stuff WILL hold an edge....... The biggest blade I own in Talonite is about four inches and was quite pricey and I got wholesale on them....... Thank you Rob Simonich..... May you rest in peace in a place full of game, good steak, plentiful ammo, lots of whiskey and nary a hangover to be found.....

I never say never on stuff like this because sometimes KaBar lucks into a deal on steel or John catches me in a weak moment...... But, t'is unlikely I fear.....

Haha, this thread pops up about every 3 months. I am not complaining, not to long ago I was the op of a similar thread! Super secret squirrel steel Beckers would be cool and I am sure people here would spring for an infi bk 21, but we are a small, odd segment of the market :-)

I'm absolutely content with 1095crovan but if Kabar ever harnessed the secret of squirrel steel in the form of a Becker knife, I'd muster up the courage to give it a whirl.

saber ground 16 in s30v :D how many times has that request been done? I'm quite happy with my BK, but of course I would buy one like that, no-brainer.
