New becker models ?

I'm not overly familiar with all the different steels, but the 1095CroVan has been awesome. I've batonned several times with my BK9, never sharpened it, and I'll bet it'll still shave.

I don't understand the fixation with S30V, myself...especially as a possible option for BK models. I've used it - don't dislike it; but it would be fairly low on my wish list. Could just be that I haven't seen it's true potential, I suppose.

saber ground 16 in s30v :D how many times has that request been done? I'm quite happy with my BK, but of course I would buy one like that, no-brainer.

they did a sprint run, just 50. they didn't sell, so i took them off their hands :D :D :D :D

mostly stainless. doesn't have paint. doesn't need stripping. takes a good edge, for a while. don't have to frak with it. just works. good for acidic/salt environments long term. cooking tool.

i really like my BK77. i don't even bother with the 1095 version for some reason :D

KaBar got a bunch of D2 back a while ago (BK24s ,eh?), it's pretty darn stainless. a 15/16 in that would be keen. esp stone wash. easier for everybody :D

Yeah a D2 15 or 16 wouldnt make me sad...lol Especially Stonewashed

I'm with Ethan on the virtues of 1095/1095CroVan.

Value drives BK&T Knives as much as design and, especially in regards to the handles, execution.

As to knives that are actually used, contra to safe-queens, the "I don't care about it" factor is significant, and price is the driver in that regard.

When you add up the total package of Becker knives, giving due consideration to the aforementioned, they are a hit! As we say in aviation, if it ain't broke - don't fix it.

Or as we used to say in the repair and installation biz: "If it ain't broke, don't break it!"

Now, with all of this said, there could be a Deluxe line of select models (did I hear BK15 in mirror polished S30V?) that could be offered alongside the 1095 CroVan we all know and love?

It's not like it hasn't been done before. Think of Busse Knives, and Swamp Rat. Design is art, execution is science.

Get 'em hooked on Becker with 1095 Cro Van (Hey, the first time is free) then sell them S30V, or VG10ATS34A2440A440CM2HSCRWHATEVER Delta Niner! :D

GSOM and Ethan said all there is to say about this topic. Please let this fantasy die.

All my stuff is carbon steel, from my vintage kitchen knives to my beckers. They all get handled and maintained. I enjoy it. I just sliced my thumb about 20 min ago oiling my old PAL butcher. My Forgecraft knives get mineral oiled from tip to hilt, easy peasy. The only way I'd prob buy a Becker that's not carbon is if its a new design that's not offered in CroVan. Otherwise I'd more likely buy 2 $75 CroVan vs one $150 whatever. I won't even buy a 24 until I've accumulated the rest of the line except for maybe the BK3 because let's face it, the 24 is still very reasonably priced and for me the 3 is mostly a collection piece rather than something I really need. Of course I say that now, I kinda felt that way about the 4 until I got it. Now I can't understand how it's not a good seller and being discontinued. I also know that if/when I get the 24 it'll get used a lot.
New model not new metal....

I'm not interested in getting a Becker knife in a "higher" grade of steel. I love the 1095CV. Also, I'm poor. The bang that I feel I get for my buck with a Becker knife is awesome and personally speaking, I'm more likely to lose any blade than break it. Looking at the last year, I lost a BK11 and a Cold Steel Pipe Hawk (loved them both) and broke a Kabar Potbelly (I did love it, not anymore).

I just don't feel that I can go wrong with a knife that is just affordable enough that I feel like I can treat it the way a knife should be treated. I don't baby my tools, never will. I'm not interested in spending good money on a knife that is a pain in my butt to sharpen and makes me think, "Damn, wife will be pissed if I break this." Keep it. Totally not interested. Besides, I'd lose it within a few years.

I think the Becker knives are right where they should be. Buy a Busse if you want something ridiculous and be prepared to spend another $200-$300 in a few years when you lose it.

This thread is a testament to Ethan's designs and kabar's build quality. When a product is this good, it's human nature to want more. More models, more variations and more improvement. Can a Becker be improved? Sure it can. But, does it need to be? Meh, I don't think so.

The thing I appreciate about the becker line is the value.

I've been very happy with 1095CV. I already liked 1095, but 1095CV is just a bit better. I appreciate the fact that you get a lot of knife, good designs, full tang, aftermarket support, and you get to support an american knife company with a lot of history.

You don't get that very often.

I own more Becker knives then any other brand and they are the best value out there. 1095CV is the bedrock and makes these knives awesome and affordable, hence the quantity I own.

Ford Mustang GT is nice but the Saleen is also quite nice too. I love the BK9 but a BK9 3V would be nice too.

But as was mentioned, if you want something ridiculous, get a Busse. Got a TGLB coming shortly, wouldn't have minded a CPM 3V Becker though but all is good, got to sell what people will buy.

I would like to see the BK9 with a straightback but with the same kind of aggressive curving into the edge it has now. I want a BK9 but I do not know if I would like the clip point it has on it. I am looking at it as more as a outdoorsy type chopper or for wood processing.
