Well... I took the plunge. I couldn't decide which of the Becker blades I wanted to try, so I purchased one each of the BK1, BK2, KB3, BK7, BK9 and BK10 models. I live on a farm, and I plan to put each one into immediate service. I'm thinking the BK2 will be a constant companion while the remainder will be assigned to more specialized tasks.

WOW! now that's what i call the best decription of "going for it" i've ever heard! i like your style. PLEASE let us know how they all work for you. i am on the fence, wanting a Becker. (BK-10)

sitting, waiting, watching for a reply. Walter :)

I got a BK10 Crewman not long ago, and it's all it was cracked up to be. Its broad, thick blade is great for hacking, chopping and pounding, but it is ground in such a way that it is a great slicer too - shaving sharp out of the box. So far, it has seen use around home for some heavy yard and landscaping work, but I have not taken it camping or anything yet.

Because of its combined robustness and sharpness, it can replace both my Grohmann #1 and USAF pilot's knife.

My only objection is aesthetic - I wish it weren't quite so military looking. But what the hell, it's a tool not a fashion statement.

So far I'm very pleased with and excited about each of the knives. I was going to tell everyone, too, how pleased I was with my source for the knives, C.R. Specialties (CRS). I go to their website this morning (Saturday) and, unfortunately, see that CRS is closing its doors. Too bad. I thought their website and service and prices were great. I guess I'll have to find an alternative site now for future purchases.

If you decide you got too many, I don't think you'd have a problem reselling them in the Exchange. I handled a couple at a gun show recently, but the handles were too big for me. Still want a Crewman, though.

I've been tempted by the BK-10, and I've noted that many have taken issue with the grip. I've never handled one, but looking at the photos, it looks like it would be fairly simple to make grips for it. If anyone has done so, I would like to hear what they have to say and see photos if they have some.
It sure looks like a good blade.

There are lots of Becker threads that describe handle modifications, such as removing the scales and leaving it naked, cord wrapping, grinding down the scales, fashioning new ones of various materials, etc.

I have medium-size hands and I don't find the handle objectionable at all.

Mabye I'm just excited about getting a bunch of new knives, but the handles feel almost perfect to me. I, too, have medium sized hands; but the handles don't seem overly large. When I grasp each knife, I feel very confident that the knive is going to stay put. I wouldn't recommend any of the knives for cutting requiring precision, but none of these knives were really designed for such.

I think I'm going to put them to some pretty hard use and see what happens.

I just got my first Becker, a BK7.

I was skepitcal about the handles, but they are actually very nice!

I'm leaving it alone. Great knife at an outstanding price. My only complaint is I prefer Kydex sheaths to nylon.

Congratulations on your purchase, I doubt that you'll regret any of them. I have several models (but not as many as you, but almost...). The steel is top notch, and the geometry of the blades are excellent. You can also fit about 6-8 Sparklite tinders in the handles if you take them apart..... ;)

While I haven't made new scales for my beckers, what I did was I took em off and sanded em down with a sandpaper. It made a huge difference. It's a pity Camillus don't pay attention to customer feedback.

Hi guys, I've had the Bk10 for a year now and love it! I don't understand the complaints about the handles though. I have medium size hands and it's comfortable. Not silppery either, even wet. I think they did a good job designing a blade and handle that chops and cuts well and doesn't leave blisters, at least on my gentle hands! (I have an office job!)

The sheath on the other hand... :barf: This is what makes it look militaryish IMO, good thing there are lots of kydex aftermarket sheaths out there. I think Camillus should offer a kydex sheath both the Bk10 and BK7!

I've considered rehandling mine but only to make it look different. I'd match the original handle shape and profile as close as possible. I haven't decided on a type of wood yet. I like cocobol but I recently used on my sharpfinger and like to keep things different. Any handle material suggestions???
