What I had typed up did comply with the forum rules, it was just my personal opinion and experience.

Do we have a rule against personal opinions now? :D
 
guess it means that you mods are figuring that it is too much 'political'?
 
I know one thing and that is that everyone seems to be guessing what I wrote. Anyways, I'm gonna type it up again some time tonight and email you, clich. Shoot me a mail if you wanna read it too.

So Meat, I know that Berlin is less sensitive to the whole Nazi thing, but I was wondering how as a whole, how do the Indiana Jones movies go over in Germany. Honest question, though I know it seems like a dumb question. Some of the guys thought it was funny to watch Inglorious Basterds in the airport at Leipsich when we flew over here, I thought it was dumb.

No rant, just my opinion. Remember, it wasn't edited away by a mod or myself, I just lost the text when I was about finished typing it up.

Never watched one, but I did see a few scenes. I loved Inglorious Basterds. No one really is sensitive to Nazi jokes or Nazi bashing here. Everyone who complains about stuff like that needs a good bashing himself, IMO.

I just checked the wikipedia entry for the Indiana Jones movies, and it appears that the Nazis are the "bad guys" in 3 of the 4 films. I think it is important to know that most Germans distinguish between "Germans" and "Nazis", at least I do. It's not like we get annoyed about movies where Nazis are the dumb bad guys. It's not like "Oh look, they're killing Germans", it's more like "Haha, look at the dumb Nazis getting shot".

Now that it's typed up it sounds kinda complicated. Do you get what I wanted to say? It's not a very natural thing to do, I guess. Just my generation's way of coping with that part of our history.

I'm all about salt so I skip the cake, skip the pie, and dive right into the tacos.
 
It is also worth noting the Nazi party was formed and funded with western monies. I love yer wimenz over there and pie is good.

i mis-read what you had wrote up and conflated that you had some kind of political and/or cultural slur thing best seen in Pirates that say, on a polite German knife forum :P my bad.
