New beckers for 2018

Let's hear it for special edition Becker BK7s and BK9s with Kydex (maybe locking?) sheaths and standard G10 or Micarta handle sets! I'd willingly pay $50-80 more for a knife with those features...
I don't speak for Ethan, but it seems to me he likes to keep things simple. Tools that work for a living is his motto. They do the job fine without all the extras. That said, I still get what your saying.

True. I only think about it sometimes because I want to remove all chance that I’ll be tempted to buy another knife brand because they come standard with those features. :/

The good news is that Becker knives really do live up to Ethan’s mission for them. I think that’s probably why so many people buy them (that’s at least why I buy them). Can’t go wrong with a Becker knife! :)

In my dream world, I can buy 1/8in thick cpm-3v BK16. The goal with the 3v not to be any stronger than the normal model, but use the extra toughness to be even slicey-er, and lighter.

Heck, if it's my dream world, let's call that blade stock 3/32in :).

More realistically, I'd like a Becker equivalent of the esee izula ii, and the esee 3. Again, id like to see thinner than typical (for becker knives) stock, like 1/8in. And while I'm wishing, no finger choils on them. I really don't like finger choils.

My last idea is that id like to see a Becker friction folder. I think that should be well within what is possible, as it would basically be a bk14 in a set of tweener handle scales that fold out and cover the tang.

I honestly feel set in the big knife department for now with my BK9. And I don't know if another big knife release would get me to open my wallet. So that's why I'm thinking a bit smaller this time around.

I really really like the idea of thinner stock, but I don't think it will happen. I think we are lucky to have 3/16 on the bk9 and 5/32 on the bk16. Ethan knows that knives are made to cut. However other companies like tops can seriously be heard saying in there interviews "If a chopper works at 3/16 we make it 1/4, if a knife works at 1/8 we make it 3/16" They just want to market "indestructible" and "tacticool" they are not concerned with making good knifes (IMO). Kabar is a good company they understand a good knife is based off cutting ability, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. However the company would fail if they made the knives any thinner because all the ass hats on youtube who abuse knives and call it a review would break them and blame kabar. Just my two cents. Would love to hear from others about this.

If you are looking for for a bk14 with a better grip (and better, thinner steel) check out the TM Hunt Skelemagua. Its a life changer.

I agree that the much thinner, cpm3v bk16 is pretty much just a pipe dream. I'm quite happy with the standard version and it's strength/toughness, I'd just love to keep it just as tough, and thin it out a bit. It seems like other knives that get upgraded steel use the same dimensions and edge angles, which Imo is a bit of a waste of an "upgrade".

What's funny, is that I was on the 3/16in thick, saber ground tweener hype train, and was disappointed when they announced 5/32, and a ffg for the bk16. And also, people keep asking for a 1/4in BK9.

Yet here i am years later, really glad the BK16 isnt 3/16. So I totally agree that we are lucky to have it even as thick (thin i guess) as we do.

I still hope for a esee 3/ izula ii style blade in 1/8", as the esee 3 manages to make do with 1/8". But you're right, doing it thin is more risky.

Thanks for the tip on the TM Hunt, I'll check it out :).

I’d like reissues of the 15 and 17. I love my 16 and would really like to add the two other tweeners.

As a female & retired military I would love to see the BK16 saber geometry re-issued. I can't find one for sale that doesn't cost a whole car payment. I don't want a safe queen either...I'm gonna use that knife til it's a tooth pick. Tan or Coyote sheath would be my dream:)

BK16 Saber Sweet, please....

Something with handle size in between the tweener and full-size handle would be nice.

yes, please. for those of us with smaller hands that would be great. i like the bigger grip on my bk9 but, the smaller scales on the 15 & 16. the 16 is a great for edc as well as for all around outdoors.
