I have a kmg 10 and I have been using it for about 5 years or so.
I am planning to add an ef-48 edge finishing grinder to my shop. Do you think I should order one with a variable speed motor or not and why?

I am waiting to hear what you guys have to say.

Thanks Brian

If you're spending the money, it's not that much more to go variable speed.

It is worth the extra cash 100 times over. You will not be sorry.

Dont bother getting it if its not variable speed. you'll just burn the small wheels out in no time in single speed.

I thought variable speeds were unnecessary until I got my first one and am now a believer! You can achieve a great deal more control and get more use out of fine grit belts when you can slow it down.

My favorite is a Burr King 960 and I use the knifemakers attachment 99% of the time.

A buffing belt slowed down is a dream come true!

Well I went with the variable speed and I have been using it for about 3 days. It is fast becoming one of my favorite tools in the shop.
