While this is not a new idea by any means, a few of us(Harpoon & Big Kahuna) have been talking about getting a small belt pouch to carry the essentials that you normally have in your pocket. One advantage of this is that at the end of the day you don't have to empty your pockets before hitting the rack. Although I'll still carry some gear in my pockets, just in case.

We came up with a size of 5x4x2 and wanted it out of leather for the traditional look. After searching for the pouch in stores and online we came up empty. The when talking about it, a friend of ours, Marty Simon said he could make them for us. They came out awesome! Thanks Marty!

Here's the finished product:

Jerry,
looks like a good kit!

i have thought about the belt pouch, but whenever i try to wear one i can't find a comfortable place to carry it (a good spot on my belt). it always seems in the way or too far out of the way (difficult to access).

that looks really nice, and Marty's work looks good! i like the double wall to hold the firesteel.

Nice Idea. That's some fine leatherwork! Nice kit.

Very nice!
I just so happen to be working on something similar to hang off my quiver for my archery accessories. It will be removable to be used on a belt, like yours or like a sporran.

wow, this is stunning. Like most, I've tried the belt puoch set-up and I just cant get used to it.
Though, one of those might make me come around:D

Whats the overall weight of it filled?

I haven't gotten around to weighing it yet, but it's fairly light.

For the snares, they're actually some premade snares that I purchased. I'm having some lighter ones made ups so I can fit a few more in the pouch.

Thanks for the comments.

I swear I've seen that pouch somewhere else.
I couldn't find a pouch I liked, so I found a girls purse that looked like it was from Robin Hood, cut the strap off and made two slots in back for belt. Had to watch how you sit or you crushed your smokes. Somehow it disappered. So, I started using a M14 single mag pouch for work tools/pencil pocket holder. I found a M2 carbine 30 round pouch that was a tad bigger and could hold more. Carried all my little switch hand tools, pocket flashlight, pocket protector with pens/pencil. After we went digital, didn't need tools, quit smoking, stopped wearing it. But, I've always wanted a leather pouch to go with my "cowboy" setup. Leather belt, holster, knife sheath and mag pouch (actually a folder pouch that fits my pistol mag). My Grandmother hand beaded me a slip on for my knife sheath, with fringes and Indian designs. Wish I could wear it to work.

I love it. I have thought about trying to make one out of leather. I have a small compass pouch that I use instead now, but in time might have to try and make one of them like that. The belt pouch carry is so cool I think.
Thanks for sharing the pics.
