New Benchmade AD?

While flipping my wonderful model 42 balisong, I finally cut myself for the first time. It bled more than I thought was possible for a superficial thumb nick. So I took some pics and made this ad which I thought was rather fitting for the warning that comes on the box: "HANDLE WITH CARE Benchmade knives are packaged extremely sharp"
 
Ouch.. nice one.

I've always found that notice on the packaging ironic, since BM's tend to have a horrible factory edge. Nothing a Sharpmaker won't fix...

haha i agree 100% when i got my grip i didnt think it would cut paper let alone my skin...but nice battle wound man, i dig it.

I havent had much of a problem with BM's factory edges, I have 6 and only one came duller than I would like and that sharpened right out. And they all came sharper than my spyderco delica and Kershaw cyclone and s30v leek, which are knives that I've heard great things about their factory edges.

You also have to take into account that the average Joe's definition of extremely sharp is often the same level of sharpness as one of us knife nut's "dang this thing is dull".

Oh and not to mention if someone cuts themselves on the knife if it doesnt have the warning they might sue, because people in this country can be dumb....

I think I've only received one BM that wouldn't pop hairs out of the box. It doesn't really matter to me anyways, I typically put my own edge one the knife regardless of the company.

You should have bought the knife @ Newgraham, to use the band-aid they send...

HAHA, very nice! well done too! I'm just buying a 42 as i'm typing this...I'm gonna be really careful flipping it once i get it :D
