Hey all. I recently purchased a new Benchmade that caught my attention. It's the new Amicus model 490. It's slim and very pocket friendly, has S90V steel, and it's an assisted flipper with the Axis lock. I figured since it has almost everything that I look for in a knife + S90V steel I just had to try one. If you're not familiar with this model I'm going to list the specs from the Benchmade website along with a couple pics of my actual knife. What do you all think? Anyone else like it as much as I do?

This is copied directly from the Benchmade website.........

I haven't really paid much attention to these since they're assisted, but it's a very nice looking knife. Looks like an excellent slicer as well. Does it have the silky smooth gloss finish on the handle or the chalky matte finish? Looks glossy in the pic, which is what I prefer, but it's hard to tell.

It's kinda in between glossy and matte. Kinda of a semi gloss. It's definitely slick but I kinda like that type of surface. It's hard to hold onto wet but there are no "hot spots" when using it hard. Also I'm sure the "assist" could be easily removed and it would just work like any other flipper. I've not tried this but I may once the new wears off lol.

I prefer the slicker scales myself. I always wear blue jeans and the matte finish that Benchmade does is hard to get in and out of the pocket and they also seem to soak up sweat from my hands and end up looking filthy. The styling looks similar to the Proxy, which has been on my radar, might end up checking one of these out as well.

I am curious as to how well these would de-assist.

Nice knife, but I prefer non-assisted knives.

Very nice design. Considering benchmade makes amazing autos and what not. I'm sure its amazing quality. Love the handle and blade shape as well. Very cool. About the same size as my edc.
Thanks for sharing a new model I have not seen.

Did not know these came with a black handle. Thought it was grey only last time I checked.

Guess yours could also be a custom (production) knife; too lazy to check. Hope I said that right.

Looks nice.

I had this on pre order, but cancelled it. I wish I would have kept the pre order. It seems like a great knife! Very light weight too!

Nope not a custom, just a plain Jane standard production model. It slides in and out of my jeans pocket super smooth. Thanks for the compliments guys. It's definitely my favorite edc at the moment.

I was at our local brick and mortar looking for a BM 531. The salesman handed me one of these even though it was not what I was after.

The ergonomics are just unbelievable. The knife feels like it just melts into your hand. Fantastic knife. Too bad it is assisted. Why does Benchmade insist on assisting Axis lock knives?

I really like mine too. Usually I'm not too keen on assisted knives, but for site reason this one doesn't bother me.

De-assisting the knife might be an issue, because the flipper tab is really small, it's more like a button. It would be difficult to get any real torque on the pivot.

Definitely one of my favorite BMs

I would be all over it, but I don't like aluminum scales at all.. I wonder if anyone can make custom ones??! KEYMAN??!!
