New Benchmades? Spill the beans!

Yeh, I just got to handle one of these the other day, I love working in a knife shop!!! Hehehe

Not a bad knife, not a bad knife at all!!! 770 was pretty cool, different from any Benchmade yet.

Is the Elishewitz model an Axis lock? What is the blade shaped like? When might we see some pictures? I'm excited about this knife. I like his knives and a wood/ bolstered handled knife sounds like something I NEED to have.

Linerlock, or it wouldn' t be a true collaboration. The blade shape is typical of the ones used on his customs. A bit complex to describe. Do a search on the 4 sale forums for pics or maybe someone can just post a few.

BTW, the blade pivot screw is the same type used on Alans customs as well. I think its adjustablity requires a special multi pronged tool.

it looks like there is two back spacers in it am i right?

after the take our guns away they're comin after our knives

Nakano: The Elishewitz is a liner lock, however I don't see why you think an AXIS or any other lock mechanism would not be a true collaboration. The pivot on Allen's customs do require a special spanner to adjust however the Benchmade will use a T10 Torx screw.

Project2lover: I assume you are talking about the Warren Osborne Carbon Fiber model 770. Yes there are 2 backspacers and the "notches" are staggered one to the other to add style.

Thanks: Rick

There was a proto/early production of the 450 for sale at the NYC show- it's a nice little money-clip gents folder- Ti handle w/ a small blade- nail nick- no opening stud/disc/hole. The folks at the Benchmade table wanted $100.00. That's probably between MSRP & what it will be available for on the net. Happy Hunting.

I was going over this post and as I read things over, I thought how uncharacteristic of BM to make an AXIS lock that was not ambidextrous. Then one post mentioned that the clip was attached with only one screw. How flimsy! Another uncharacteristic trait. After looking at the photo on ebay, and reviewing the cover of cutlery shoppe catalog, I believe that the "one screw" is actually a through bolt holding on the clip. Yea!! This would be plenty strong enough, and reversable. Details,Details! Now , as a lefty, I can hardly wait for mine to arrive. Can anyone verify this daydream, who has actually handled the real thing? I also noted on the photo and on this string that the thumb stud is on both sides. Another clue.

The clip rests in a recess in the carbon fiber. It is a snug fit that keeps the clip from wiggling. The screw is short and threads into a threaded insert.

Not reversible.

David Z,
I recieved my 770 yesterday and have already sold it on the for-sale forums.
I am also a lefty and was planning on taking the clip off and using a sheath. Unfortunately, the clip is recessed into the CF scale, similar to how a Sebenza is, so taking the clip off would leave a "hole" in the handle. and you couldn't move it to the other side without grinding a recess on that side. And without it being in a recess, I don't deel it would be stable enough with only 1 screw. It would move back and forth no matter how tight you made it.
Hope that helps.
Walter

Thanks for the replies, and the info. I guess that I will be cancelling my order tomorrow.
Dave.
