New Benchmades?

Call it panic buying, but the threat of of minimum advertised pricing restrictions at 1/1/2010 was a good excuse to buy an all black 950 Rift and a 940 Osborne!

My buddy goes to SHOT every year so I'll have him stop by the BM booth for intel.

Years ago, I got all excited about Benchmade knives, but now I only EDC Spyderco. Their designs just did not do it for me anymore. Spyderco kept my attention, and kept me in the game. Just my random thoughts. :)

All i know is its going to take a real cool design for me to buy ANY new knife at this point,i'd like to see what comes out in 2010....

M4 is the new 'must have' steel. It's good, but not my first choice for a folder. It is not stainless so it must be coated. Pivots receive a lot of wear and coatings wear off in that area. Most guys will never use their M4 folders in any kind of inclement conditions anyway so it probably doesn't matter to them. I have never seen an M2 Ritter that was used. Most of these sat in safes. The bulk of the M4's will likely meet the same fate.

M4 is better suited to a fixed blades.

Of course, INFI and 3V is better suited to large blades, and yet people still buy little 2.5" blades made with the stuff, when a good stainless like S30V would exhibit better performance overall in that size.

I have a M4 Ritter on preorder and I for one am really going to put it through its paces. You got me curious now... How many people here are actually going to use their M4 Ritters? I know that if I kept it in the box I could flip it for about $80 in no time at all but now that I've been in this game for a little while I realise that thats not what I'm trying to accomplish with my knife hobby. I'd much rather get the enjoyment out of using it then just pulling it out of the safe and opening it every once in a while. How about you guys who ordered the M4 Rifts, how many of you are going to use them?

I've used my M2 Ritter Grip for years. The M4 version is preordered. I'll be using it for sure.

Does anybody have a pic of the Sibert?

Thats awesome Grybsh and exactly what I was planning on doing to my M4! I was planning on picking up a orange handled s30v ritter and the M4 and switching the handles. As the M4 will be used as one of my outdoor hiking/hunting/camping knives I would much prefer the orange handle to the black on black that it will come with. Much easier to spot when you set it down and it could save your life someday. Awesome to see it already done!

Oh and I forgot... I am also contemplating taking the DLC coating off down to the bare metal has anyone ever done this? I've done it to cheap black coatings but never anything nearly as gnarly as a DLC. I think that this knife would be even cooler with a satin finish and a nice patina!
