Just interested to know if anyone yet owns or has evaluated the new Beretta/Warren Thomas Stealth folders which are made of Carbon Fiber except the blade edge?

I was actually involved in the project. We sent an original Warren Thomas knife to Taiwan to get made into what is now the production version. They are extremely lightweight and pretty darn cool. The ones I held are probably not up to the standards that may be comming out now. The edge is not as sharp as I would like but remember I was holding the first production pieces.

Anyone else have any?

Why did they name it the stealth? "I'd tell you but I'd have to kill you" does not count.

I picked up some Stealth's today and they are pretty nice. I was disappointed that the steel portion of the blade was so large and there was only a small carbon fiber piece attached to the side of the steel blade. Warren's blades are Carbon Fiber with a steel edge. The Beretta is Steel with a Carbon Fiber side plate. My guess is they added the carbon fiber to the blade strictly for looks.

The bottom line is that the knife will be more utilious with the steel blade and less expensive to manufacture. Each knife was also serial numbered and has Warren Thomas' initials next to the Beretta logo.

Mike,
I thought the BERETTA knives were made in JAPAN, ....are you saying that the Warren Thomas knives are out of Tiawan? Nothing wrong with that, as I am constantly amazed at the continued improvement in quality coming from the Tiawanese Cutlery manufacturors. Just curious....

It is a good looking knife

The Stealth's are made in Japan. And they added more steel to the blade to strengthen it. The Japanese manufacturer, Yamahide Cutlery Co, was worried about breakage.

I handled one recently and my impressions were favorble overall. First, this sucker is one strong knife with all that Carbon Fiber.
The sample I handled was a little tight in the opening but I attribute this to the newness of the knife. One thing I thought not too highly of was the pivot screw stands up and away from the body of the handle a bit much and could possibly hamper the draw a little. On the other hand though, it gives you something to grab onto.
There is a substantial amount of steel showing (about a third of the way up the blade) and the blade is, of course, chisel ground.
The edge is extremely keen and horrendously sharp.
The weight is a mere pittance.
The overall feel is good but a bit boxy to me. There is a built in choil for pinky protection and that is always a plus in my opinion.
Overall I liked the knife as it is totally strong and totally unique in the knife world and looks to be a real cutter. Did I mention how light this knife is? The thing has not a lotta weight to it at all. I like that.
That's my story and Im stickin' by it.

Will,

I was one of the original people contacted by Beretta to manufacture the knife. Taiwan was an optional place of manufacture and not the final OEM.

Unfortunately I got in on the deal to late. Maybe next time.
