New BG42 Military came today!

I'd bet that if a user had two unmarked blades of identical shape and blade geometry, that these users could not tell a difference between BG-42 and S30V (or whatever the "hot" streels of the moment are) in normal usage.

Steel type is more about selling hype than actual usability.

Oh, the steel junkies curse you. But I think you're very likely right.

I was simply disagreeing with your last sentence...that it sells at a substantial premium...which is not true. List price is exactly the same that of the S30V version IIRC and with the newgraham discount it is actually quite a bit cheaper.

 Excellent point. You're right on. Since the carbon fiber Military models with S30V steel aren't readily available anymore (or at least not from my sources), I had in mind the G10 S30V model which, of course, lists for about 75% of the price of the carbon fiber BG42 model.

NGK's price is pretty good. I may just have to get one. I already have an older one in ATS-34 and one in S30V, but I can always use another.
