I think the paracord wrap you did turned out great. I've had a wrap on my bk14 and also had the kabar handle scales. To me, the handle scales give the knife a bit more of a "comfortable" feel since they are thicker than the paracord. If you ever get the chance, see if you can find someone who has the scales and see how they feel to you. If you should ever pick up some scales to try, definitely be careful when you tighten them. There is no inner support so if you crank them too tight, you'll pull the screw right through the handle. However, a little blue locktite and snug them up a bit and they'll serve you well for a long time. They're pretty reasonably priced and you get 2 sets (black set and orange set). It's definitely not a necessity but it would give you some other handle options...especially if you should end up with more than 1 bk14.
I don't want to give you the impression that there is anything wrong with just a wrap though. It's a personal preference and if that happens to be your preference.....there's definitely nothing wrong with that.
