New BK2 and now I go under a surgeons knife.

My new BK2 arrived yesterday. I took it out to blaze a trail through the overgrown woods behind my house. The knife was quickly proving its well talked about tenacity and brute strength. The failure to the evening was my gloves and human flesh. I ended up with a larger tree thorn broken off between the joint of my knuckle on the end of my middle finger. Looks like I am having surgery this weekend. It severed tendons and nerves. My finger has swollen to twice its already bear paw like size. I have been given two scripts for antibiotics and received an antibiotic shot tonight as well. Plus a new tetanus shot. If only Ethan would create some Becker puncture proof gloves. Ha ha ha ha. I may not be an official BECKERHEAD but I have spilled blood and will have surgery to clean and repair my finger in honor of the BK2. Ha ha ha. Some say the pen is mightier than the sword but sharp wood is mightier than human flesh.

pics or it didnt happen!! Lol, I can't resist good gore!

Hope everything turns out ok!

A real man would have hacked the finger off, dug the thorn out, then sewed it back on with raw hide !

Jusy kidding buddy. Good luck on the injury, it sounds brutal.

I guess i'm lucky. My brother works at a steel mfg company and they give them a new set of kevlar lined leather gloves every so many days.....Since they aren't ever worn out he just brings the extras home. They are pretty useful....

Good luck with the knuckle! I've never heard of that happening, never thought about that happening, and hope it never happens to me.

Ouch! Made me cringe just reading this!
It must be something about the BK2 that makes people hurt themselves.
The first time batoning with the BK2, I hit my wrist with the baton instead of the blade.
Woke me up real quick!

Best of luck! Hope you heal quickly.

Wow. Sorry to hear it.
Sounds like it's going around.
Jeff Randall just had to have surgery because of a thorn he caught in the Peruvian jungle.
I think his problem was infection and not tendon damage though.
Wishing you a quick recovery.

I got lucky with my lesson on chopping safety.
I was holding a small log with my left hand and chopping with my right.
Brought the knife in at too sharp an angle. It glanced off and went right into my hand.
The lucky part is that I just hit skin and a bony knuckle. Missed the more important parts.
A little bit of superglue, and I was good to go.

Lessons learned though: Get the left hand out of the way, and keep the angle steeper.

Dang, Ogre, sorry to hear about the hand.

Be sure and let it heal up good after the surgery, before you take tha BK2 back out.

Smoke sent your way.

Speedy recovery on the paw, man. I've had a few close calls with pointy bits of nature that just laugh at thick glove leather, it could happen to anybody. In the meanwhile, have a good time digging through all the awesome Becker info in here.

wow that sucks, wishing you a quick recovery. My BK2 will be here in a few days I better be careful.

Heal up quick! My dad took a nasty thorn on the edge of his ear and it grew very large. He had to have it removed.

thorns suck man! I once had one stick me on the inside of my nose, and it swelled way up and closed both nostrils.

Pics Pics Pics, Oh also ask the sugeon to use the BK2 and take pics also...
