I will post pictures when I get a chance later, but I have to say that the new BK2 sheath is freaking amazing. It answers nearly every complaint that I've ever heard or had about the old one. You don't even need the retention strap it locks in so tightly. Also, the blade doesn't wiggle in the sheath anymore, which means the edge isn't rubbing on the sheath. The material is a little thicker, and the belt loop is removable. I wonder if you can fit a Tek-Lok on the back.

Anyway, I just wanted to give props where props are due. I waited to buy my second BK2 because Ethan mentioned in another post that the new sheath was worth waiting for. Man, was he right!!!!!! It is a huge improvement, and I love it.

Thanks, Ethan (and Ka-Bar), for not settling for the status quo, and for always trying to make your product better when possible. I really appreciate the pride you take in your product.

Pictures to come...

So, you're trying to tell us that you actually got the new sheath already? Congratulations!

This is the first report that I've heard of anyone actually having one. I can't wait to see your pictures.

Received my new BK2s with the new sheaths from Tomars Today.
I agree they are a great improvement. I would like to see these for the 7 & 9.

I agree. I think they would be a big improvement, even if Ka-Bar only offered them as an upgrade or an accessory. I think a lot of people would like them.

Oooh... I like that. I like that a lot.

I want one of those, but I'm saving my money for some of the other goodies that will be coming out in the next thirty days. After that, though, I'll get one.

Good, clear pictures, willworship. You don't need to apologize for any slight blurriness on one shot: your choice of how and what to shoot more than makes up for it. Good presentation.

Thanks for sharing with us.

This sheath makes me want to sell my BK7 (and maybe the BK9 as well) and buy the BK2... then re-buy the BK7 and 9 if and when the sheath is updated. It looks really great.

I bought the BK7 KYDEX from chestnut ridge Knife shop its a good sheath and the knife fits very well but the belt attatchment needs some changes to be a little more flexible.

Yeah, that is a nice sheath.Wish they would just sell the sheath by itself.I'm more than happy with my old Camillus BK2.Wonder if there's any after market nylon sheaths that would fit,Specops perhaps?

got a new sheath, and knife, and other new trinkets winding their way to me via post.

of course, still waiting on the announcement of sales for the BK-14 and BK-05 :) new pants for those guys? we'll see.

Does anyone else find that the retention strap is too short? I can not get mine to snap closed. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Major edit... I had misinterpreted a previous post.
Am I the ONLY one who prefers the Cordura sheath? I got a BK-7 sheath to keep my BK-2 in.
Why do you all prefer the Kydex so much?

So wait - does this new one allow reversible carry if you flip the sheath (as with the necker)? I was considering picking up a gen 2 BK-2 as my gen 1 is on loan to a friend - but being a lefty, I definitely need an ambidextrous sheath. While the gen 1 sheath gave me issues (it caused micro-dings in the edge if I gave it a straight pull without leading with the spine), it did allow for left hip carry without having the edge awkwardly facing forward.

If I were to pick up another, I would want to either attach it to my left hip or the right shoulder strap of my camelbak... both requiring that the sheath be flipped.

They do appear to be able to be reversed to me. Don't have one yet, but from the pics it looks like the belt loop can be reversed.

If you have seen the Cold Steel Secure-Ex or Conceal-Ex sheaths, it's set up just like that. You can unscrew the backing with the belt loop and flip it over, attaching the belt loop to the other side, making it lefty. You should be good to go.
