Did anyone notice these recently?

It seems BladeTech is making these again, but as imports only.
They are marked on the back as Taiwan made.
But they are full size, with all the specs of the earlier USA made version.

They use to have a large taiwan made version that came with 154cm only,
to differentiate it from the USA made version with S30V steel.
But this new Taiwan made one is offered in "Crucible" CPMS30V steel.
Is this "Crucible" denoted steel even better?

It also seems that the blade grind is different.
While not a full flat grind like the old version of the thicker "Magnum" Pro Hunter that use to be offered,
These new Taiwan made ones seem to start higher than the old saber ground regular USA made Pro Hunter.
Maybe due to no larger "Magnum" version being offered like before,
have these new ones offer a grind that fits somewhere in between?

Price seems fair too, compared to the high MSRP of the original USA Pro Hunters.
Especially if these Taiwan versions have good QC.

All else seems to be the same, with G10 handles and nested liners.
Any other info or interest out there?

It is not a knife that interests me, but S30V is a Crucible trademark, they are the only ones who make it. All S30V is Crucible S30V.

Lots of red flags there. I don't recall a Taiwan produced model. It's not listed on the manufacturer website. The description states that it is both the full size and the junior model. The photo with the clip showing is clearly of the Jr model as the clip is nearly the full length of the and tip up. Then there's the redundant steel branding.

I'm not aware of any fakes having been made, but I wouldn't touch that listing with someone else's 10' pole.

Yeah, I noticed that earlier today when I tried to get more info on these on the web.
They aren't listed on the BT website or anywhere else.
I guess I assume they're legit since it says "Taiwan", but it wouldn't be first time the Chinese clone makers tried to pull one over on us.
The Blade-Tech markings do look professional though.
I figured the "Crucible" and CPMS30V markings were to differentiate it from the older US made Pro Hunters.
Since it's potentially a new offering.

I thought the large size / junior mix up was just a mistake of the seller, since they are selling both.

I guess I should try and contact BT or even the person who listed these on EBay, to get to the bottom of this.

Thanks for the possible warning/red flag.

CPM, if I'm not mistaken, stands for Crucible Powdered Metallurgy. So they've stamped it Crucible Crucible Powdered Metallurgy S30V.

You would think a Taiwan made (as oppose to just Chinese) knife with quality control monitored by Blade-Tech would not make that redundant blunder on a blade.
Maybe they thought printing "CRUCIBLE" on the blade would make it seem more high end to blade steel snobs, but putting CPM in front of S30V already implies that according to what you and chiral.grolim pointed out.
CPM in front seems better to me than just S30V, like many other knives I own.
I thought it denoted a difference in quality even though it's technically the same steel.

Someone will clear this all up eventually.

Directing attention to a source which is not a Bladeforums dealer is deal-spotting. This includes any link to a live eBay sale. Don't do it.
