All I can say is WOW! The best 3" folder I've ever tried. Excellent fit and finish, feels great in hand, razor sharp and tough as nails!

Excellent service from Bayou Lafourche as well.

Great job, Benchmade!

I have to agree with clay on this.
Mine is a 555, ever since I finally broke down and picked up one of these "cheap" knives....... it has ridden clipped in my front right pocket .... every day.
This has 'benched' a lot of expensive knives....... sending them back to the darkness of my safe for now....... however their furture security relating to ownership........ is in serious question......

The Mini Griptillian is IMO the best deal for the dollar that Benchmade produces. It has a silky smooth action and it's really sturdy also.

My wife has confiscated it from me, ans now her CRKT Falcon is up for trade. :)

I just got the larger 551 Friday, and it too is excellent. My new EDC.

You got yours from Roger too? I got mine and have been edc-ing for 3 month. Did you get the one with the bronze washer? It was a bit stiff and gritty at first, but it is now smooth as butta, but I alway dab a smidgen of TuffGlide now and again. I Find the 550 too big for pocket carry, YMMV.

Edited to add that the choice of 440C as blade steel is right on for me, what with the corrosion resistance and toughness. Had to touch up the edge on the 204 quite oftem thought, but as one member put it - sharpening knives are kind of like a zen ritual.

Roger is great. The best service I've had yet.

Both my 551 and 556 have the bronze washers, very smooth.

I prefer to use FP-10 CLP for all my knives and guns.

I agree that 440C is great stuff. I prefer it over 154CM or ATS-34 any day.

Have a great week,
Clay

Just ordered my mini-grip 555 (oval hole, plain edge, black handle) after reading up on the forums. I love my TSEK, but I was looking for a legal and more sheeple friendly knife for my trip to (N)Ireland this summer. If my TSEK is any indication of quality, Benchmade might own me... Also, I wanted to try out the opening hole as opposed to thumb studs, and the 555 mini grip just fit the bill. I will post when I get it with a follow up. Looks to be a great little knife (next a 706D2, or 705...hmmmm. decisions, decisions).

Regards,

Shaun.
