I decided I should give a Benchmade a try for space in my pocket. I usually use Spydercos, but I would like to try something other than my mini-griptillian. Now I need your help on deciding which model to get! I've narrowed it down to a few choices.
BM 950 Rift - I handled this one at a recent gunshow and I love the handle!
BM 741 Onslaught - I just like how alive this big blade is in my hand! Probaly not the best choice for EDC, but it isn't too heavy though!
BM 940 - I haven't handled this one yet, forgot while I at BPS, but does it stack up to the other choices?
BM 520 Presidio - I think the one in 154cm is in the sameish price range as the others, and I like the handles too!
So out of these four, which is the best choice for EDC?

i've been EDC'ing a first production 940 for around 8 years now. never had an omega spring break, the action's been buttery smooth since i got it, and the pivot's stayed solid. even with snapping it open, using the thumbstuds as a wave, ect, ect.

Out of those knives I would definately take the 940 or better yet the 943 for edc purposes.

Well, there is a dealer that sells the 710s for 100..110 (?) - you need a coupon for that but they display them at every BM knife ;)

I just got a 943 and if i compare it to my 2 710s its a much more elegant or even ''delicate'' - and not in a negative way - its still quite sturdy and i'm glad i bought it.
So - if you want a work horse, i'd recommend the 710, if you want sth to play or for your suit, go for the 94x.
[you can play w/ the 710, too, but i think its more fun with the 943 ;)]

I would definitely go for the 940 or 710. I have both and prefer the 940 for everyday tasks. It is light but very effective. I've had mine for about 4 years, used the s$&t out of it and it is still kicking.

940 or 710... just gotta decide what blade length you want now! I just picked up a BM 551BK-101 Gold Class Grip and I'm convinced that Benchmade has never done better.

I would go either the 940 or the Rift. If you want something that is a little more sheeple friendly get the 940. If that isn't a concern to you, get the Rift.

Also look at the HK 14205 It is a tank of a knife like the 520 but with G-10. The rift is a great knife as well. But with what you have down you can't go wrong with any of those. I own a 741 and it rides very nice in the pocket for such a large knife.

Out of the four, i'd choose the 940 but like pascal.abi, i would take the 710 over the other four for an EDC blade...in fact, its in my pocket right now:D

950 Rift is a great knife but it is what some people might call on the large size for a comfortable EDC. 940 is thinner, sleeker, and very capable. I vote 940 but they're both awesome.

Another vote for the 940. It is a nice blade in a small package. Good luck. Kevin

940 is a very nice knife. Its sleek and slim very light weight just the way I like my knives. I don't own one but have heard many good things about the 520.
