Good morning everybody,
I haven't been around here much lately, but just due to work changes :) I'm fine, and I tried to keep updated here, even though I haven't posted much. But I can't keep from starting this thread.
So, some time ago, on this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/943217-Thoughts-on-the-Wrangler-(no-not-GEC-s-)

I was expressing my thoughts about the idea of a folding knife, in jack configuration, with a clip main and a wharncliffe/sheepsfoot secondary, as a great idea for my taste.
Later on, Keith found the very knife I was talking about (a Schrade 93OT Wrangler) and started this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...only-c-mon-other-mfg-s-make-a-knife-like-this

It seemed that Keith and I are not the only knife users interested in such pattern. Today, on Boker's website, I found this:

Apparently, my new wishing well is starting to work. 440C, olive wood handles, and the very pattern I was hoping for. So, what do you guys think?

I want it! Do you have a link to the description on the Boker website--I'm having trouble finding it. I also like the blade combo and the 440C steel and olive wood sounds good. I've been wanting to try one of their serpentine whittlers also and I hope they offer it in the olive wood also. I haven't tried any of Boker's modern knives... what do you guys think of them??

Thank you, Fausto! That other knife does look interesting also. The line doesn't appear to be on the English version of the site... yet... hopefully they'll be available in the US soon. I think you should get the knife and give us a full report! ;)

Very nice!
Glad I took a look at the whole series link, there are a few interesting patterns there...
Thanx for the heads up!

I see most of the line available at GPKnives save for the 2 blade serpentine Fausto posted above. Think this is OK since they are a supporting Dealer here on BF.

Edit to add and Knifecenter has 4 models.

Love the olive wood btw, always looks good from any angle.

Fausto,

That looks terrific! I love the olive wood.

Best I can tell, this is the "Stockman" from Boker's new Evergreen series, limited to 500 pieces per pattern-- sound right?

If I'm reading the German website correctly (I can't find the Evergreen series on the Boker US site, though I found some of the single blade offerings on a US sales site), the knife comes in at 3" (7.5cm)-- yes?

Oooooh.

(Also: Oh no! Heh.)

Edited: O' course all you other enthusiasts were talking and linking and finding 'em while I was composing my post. A good series, yes? :)

I assume it's some kind of "limited edition" so maybe that's why they're not available on the US website yet. Maybe it will be available soon...or maybe not (I don't know enough about Boker's market strategy). Maybe Andi knows more.
As for getting the knife myself, I might do it. I emailed Boker about the closed length of the knife (it could be a bit bigger for my taste), so we'll see. Boker sells directly from their website though (not sure if they ship overseas).
P.: 7,5cm is supposed to be the blade length actually.
By the way, the "picnic" knife (my name for it) is available in oak as well:

Glad they are. After all, these patterns are way more popular overseas than here in Europe I guess.

"Each model is strictly limited to 250 pieces for North-America and 250 pieces for Europe."

Thanks for the length help, Fausto. I'm now wishing the little pen knife came with two blades, as I like Boker's sleek little pen knife design but with two blades.

But man, that olive wood (a favorite).

I love it!

I've been waiting for years for Buck to bring out a version of the 301 or 303 with a clip/sheepsfoot combination in a two blade jack. Looks like Boker beat them to the punch. And the picnic knife looks like a rich relative of the Victorinox waiter, but with tons more class.

Carl.

Those are some fine looking folders. Just curious, but how well does olive wood hold up?

THAT is the one that caught my eye!
hmmmm, might have to get busy this morning :)

These olive handled knives are a limited run on 250 knives for Europe and 250 for the US. But they were just delivered since May 2012, so I think, you guys should get one, if you want to.

Nice looking, btw :)

Kind regards
Andi

I did some searching and NO luck finding the Winzermesser (with corkscrew and cap lifter) :(
if anyone finds a US dealer carrying that one can you PM me please? TIA

Edit-- got the info from you great folks in no time flat...
I love this place :)

It seems like both knives are still available directly from Boker (at least in Europe), so there should be a chance for everyone.
As for olive wood, I never owned a knife but I've been surrounded by olive trees and wood since I was born, and I do like it. It's not as tough as ebony but I believe it's very nice and, as any wood handles, if treated right (by the factory) can live forever (or at least outlive my will to carry it). I have to say that the color of the wood in the pictures is pretty light; I'm 99% sure that "in person" it's slightly darker, and it can also get a bit of shade (and character) with time.
It goes without saying that anyone getting one of these knives is invited to post pictures and opinions on it...
