It should start to appear in the Larger Japanese Book & magazine stores.
It is superb and features alot of truly great knives.

There is some techniques and alot of Strider, Ryan, Emerson, Thomas etc.

Tomo and Ichi really out did themselves w/ some beautiful shots. I think it's better than Tactical Knife (Kakuto Knife).

ISBN4 - 89461 - 422 - 7

If they could only learn to spell my name right ! :-{)
Thanks

Excellent !! I hope this is the book I'm thinking of, Tamishigiri is this the same book that's pictured on the Yamash!ta knives website homepage ??

Donald.

I got the opportunity to meet Ichi and Tomo (and I should mention "Little Tomo" too) this past October. Talk about a great bunch of guys.

"Tactical Knives" Rocked! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of "Sento Knife"!

Oh HELL yes! If this book is in the same ballpark as "Tactical Knives" it is a must have for any Usual Suspect!

Should be awesome!

If anyone gets a line of where they will be available for sale please let me know .

Anyone know if Ichi has brought out his own book of his work. Sometimes I get American Handgunner and Guns just to look at his AWESOME photographs.

Hey Joel,
I am going to the BIG store at 30 Rock tonight. I'll pick one up for you if its in stock.

Anyone check amazon? Please fill me in on these books, as I've never heard of 'em (that's the FNG in me coming out...) Are they techinque books (i.e.: how to use a blade in a fight)?

is "Tactical" still available?

Ark,

Grab me a copy please! They don't have a damned thing down here in Scamdanavia.

And the same goes for a knife...
And, I'm a Usual Suspect.

See2,
I don't know if Amazon would carry these books as they are intended for the Japanese market but you may get lucky.
As for technique, the first book "Tactical" did have some technique sequences, some of which feature Ernie, but the book is more of an overview of the tactical knife phenomenon. Knives, makers and techniques are covered. The perspective seems to be from that of the Japanese knife enthusiasts who are focused on: Emerson, Ryan, Thomas and Strider.
A certain Usual Suspect is featured also!

Doc,
I'll get one if I can!

Amazon does not list either book. Where can we get them? If anyone has a source please post for the rest of us. thanks. Dick

The Japanese bookstore at Rock Plaza does not have it yet. They did have the latest issue of Knife and so far the publisher is keeping with their plan to have a Strider article appear in every issue for the next year. Also a spread on Laci and his new folder that Farrid is currently making. THAT'S ABOUT IT. I'll keep checking.

Actually the one I saw in the Japanese Knife magazine is an identical design to a Steve Ryan knife that I saw quite awhile ago.....another Farid original.

Whooaaa! Does this mean that Laci's design is not ummm...Laci's design?

Hello everyone, this is my very first post.
I am not overly skilled in computer use or internet protocols so if I make any mistakes I will try to correct them in the future. Let me start by saying I am an avid martial artist and knife collector with a model 3 viper as the flagship of my collection. I have been reading bladeforums for quite awhile. I have used alot of the information
you people have taken the time to write and have used it to help in deciding various knife purchases. I thought it is now my turn
to try give out some info that might help someone else. Today I ordered the book SENTO KNIFE from the bookstore Sasuga books. They are a great outfit to do business with. I do not have their phone number handy but you can go to their web page at sasugabooks.com and get it. Give them a call and give them all the info title, isbn number etc. and they will order it for you. It will take about a month to get it as it comes from directly from Japan an costs about $36.50 total. I hope this helps anyone find this book.
