Picked up a copy of Arrowpoints Spearheads and Knives of Prehistoric Times by Thomas Wilson. Most of what I have been able to find around me is soft rock, maybe I am just not looking hard enough. I was able to make a decent enough stone that cut a thin shirt that was being used for rags. The book is by no means a do it yourself of flintknapping, just a general history of stone tools of North America, written in 1897. Got it for two bucks, my local library got too many copies!
