New Boutique Hatchet and Knife???

Meh. Not enthused with the design, price is high, and country of origin isn't specified, which makes me suspect the heads are sourced somewhere not worth talking up.

Looks like crap to me. Just being frank. There's better out there for much less.

Way overpriced for sure. Not Asian, though. Made in El Salvador. Condor? You can get a Condor for a fraction of the price.

There are worse hatchets out there, but I agree. I don't like the head shape. It is screaming to get stuck.

If made in El Salvador then it's definitely by Condor/Imacasa, but custom axe heads require a tooling investment that they probably divided out over a small volume of units, which would give you the high price. Compare to Marbles, which has a bunch of custom heads but costs way less because of their distribution network allowing them to reach a much larger customer base and so spread that tooling cost over many more units to reduce the per-unit cost.

At least it should be fairly well made if that's the case, but if you don't have a good design it doesn't matter how well you make it or how cheap you price it--it's just not going to be appealing.

Those are the the ugliest 💩💩💩💩 excuses for an axe I've ever seen, I could 💩 out a better looking axe than that ( it would kill me though , so don't call my bluff 😁 )

Boy, I just looked through the web site and everything is very pricey not just the axes. My thinking is that this is the way of the future expensive and "Look what I bought and it was ONLY 125$ plus shipping".

I think that you are being to hard on them. After all, the t-shirt advertising their company is only $28 + shipping.

I find it hard to spend that much a month at local fleece markets!

Ah, that's funny. ;)

Looks like a copy of the Collins Hudson Bay head. I'm curious about the head attachment to the handle. It looks similar to a Fiskars in the picture.

Not to beat a dead horse, but nowhere on the website do they have contact info. The first thing I look for on a website/vendor is a street address and phone number.

And that's my Nickles worth of Two cents!

This is too important not to mention again.

I don't get it. I don't have my phone number or street address on my website, but I have a contact form. Not good enough?
Though I understand this is a bigger company so maybe that's the difference?

Have you never had a problem with a retailer or service provider and not been able to contact them about it? I have numerous times and I find it frustrating. It's a sign that there will be poor or no customer service. A buyer should note this before making a purchase.

Yes, of course, super frustrating! I was just looking at the other comment thinking "really, a phone number!?" forgetting that most businesses aren't one man operations.

I see that the company selling these axes has changed the marketing a bit regarding their "striker" knife, whose description used to read:

"Designed for self defense, every shape and curve of the #civilwarestriker is made to cut and enhance bleeding. It sounds nasty but no other knife on the market that we are aware of has these same distinctive features and benefits. In the coming weeks we plan on extending upon this proprietary design element. It's what the brand was built on, and it's important that you(the customer) are aware."

I can see why they changed the wording to imply use on animals!

Just caught a glimpse of these Civilware hatchets. Never heard of them and threw this out to see if anyone else has. Way out of my budget or interest but they look nice?

I have not heard of these before your post. I'm not a likely candidate to buy one either, but am also curious. Unfortunately their site, like a lot of others, has slick advertising without the details I would like to see. And I did not find any independent reviews (not that they aren't out there - I just didn't find any). Are they asking customers to buy a pig in a poke?

In fairness, I think one could look up a phone number or try:

BUT, I think they could (and IMHO should) make it easier.

I didn't think for a minute anyone on the forum, myself included, would be interested in buying something. But ... as it is another chapter in edged tools/axes, I thought the curiosity would bring some interesting comments. At the very least, introduction of a new tool shows that there is still interest out there. So, I won't knock him too much for pursuing his interest and trying ... even if the stuff is hyped and ridiculously overpriced.

Quote - “You can forget the pre-conceived notion that Civilware is ‘just’ another Outdoor brand, we’re much more than that.”

Oh, em, gee ... I'm sold.
