New Buck Knives for 09

I ordered a Hartsook and a folding Kalinga from Knife Supply but it's been over a week and no package.... wonder what's up with that?

Buck 110 $27.00 at my local Wally World. Nylon sheath has horizontal carry option. Packaged in a box, not a clamshell. Knife was sharp out of the box but dirty and gritty. Maybe it wasn't cleaned after final polishing? It cleaned right up with some machine oil. Sharpened up to a razor edge with my Spydie Sharpmaker.

My buddy Tom at Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear sells knives and told me that he could not order it wholesale for that price.

my 09s so far are a 2 dot 110 with 4 inlay rivets
110 with the confederate flag ingraved through the blade 2006
and 110/112 with post falls on the 110 blade and El Cajon on the 112

Me too! I'm trying to divert my Buck money (at least for the next few months) so I can get a downpayment on a sports car I recently convinced my wife I had to have. As soon as that becomes a distant memory, I'll restore by Buck purchase pace to the normal two or three per month. :o I'll be able to pick them up at the post office in a faster car! :D

I wasn't going to say anything until I had the knives so I could post a picture.
But I got an email from Grand at Snake River Knives that my blades are done and ready to install into the two NS 110s I sent him so I'm all fired up.

Grand has made me two 110 Drop Points blades; one in Ladder Pattern and one in Bird's Eye. Grand's damascus is 125 layers of 1095 carbon steel and 15N20 Nickel steel heat treated and tempered to a Rockwell 56 to 57.

I'll post pictures when I get the knives back from Grand.

Has anyone seen any Drop Point Damascus 110s before? I hadn't so I thought it might be something really different and interesting...btw, the knives are scaleless so I'll be handling them up.

With my problems, as yet unresolved, with the 850 Bravo-Turkey last fall, I have curtailed my Buck buying - but not my knife buying, I've strayed. Thus far, even my 'factory second/blem' purchase from, I dare say, Kershaw have all been perfect. Made in OR, too.

My Fall Bucks were not awe-inspiring. The second BG-42/Mic/G10 110 I bought had glaringly obviouse physical and functional QC issues. That cost me $11 to 'exchange'. The 112FG and 850 I ordered from a store went back - the 112FG was a 112 in an FG box, the 850 was defective - the replacement carried on the tradition - a design fault. the replacement 112FG was okay. The 105BR in CW from BPS had a RW looking grip - identical to my existing 105BR - went back. The only recent Buck purchase that was good as bought was the BPS CM154 110 - looked over carefully at the store and only because I had a BPS pre-paid card. Sorry, Buck! I still love my existing Bucks, but anything for '09 will have to be seen in person first.

This came today. It turned out to be an excellent buy I do believe. The guy on the Bay gave no description of what turned out to be a mirror finished 4 dot blade. Also, the scale is laminated Oak (I think). The box is a waxed/shiny one so late 80s I guess. So, it seems to be a bit of a mystery knife. Anyone care to Opine? btw, these are awful pictures. Once I wiped off the blade I founded it to be mint.

That's a butey - I love the finger groove knives.

I had delivered, today, a FG -110- off of the bay. It was new with a nice patina on the bolsters; no box, no sheath.

looks like:
886 and what looks like a 2005 symbol
over USA

Peter
great lookin' knives by the way

Good eye Peter, that's just what it says. I got mine today, it's a pretty cool knife. If I had my druthers, it wouldn't have the serrations, but oh well.

Got a Buck 111 in the mail last week!
Love the nickle bolsters!
:thumbup::thumbup:
Going to buy a Crosslock soon, probably the S30V model.
Still need to get a 112FG as well, maybe in the spring.

I finally picked up an 880 off the big evil E last night. I have always kinda wanted one to go with my 881 but never had the cash at the right moment.

It's new w/o box and the part serrated balde (which I'm not crazy about). This will probably be it for my Buck Strider interests unless I can find a reasonably priced 882.

I've been a bad boy this month.
So far:
1. Rosewood/154cm Alpha Folder with guthook-As New
2. Congress 322-As New
3. 110 Four Dot FG-As New, shown above
4. Small Tac-Lite with wooden handles-NIB
5. BP110-As New
6. 112 Three Dot 1st Variation-NIB I think
7. AG110 Stag-Not received yet
8. NightHawk 650 Bead Blasted?-Not received yet
9. Strider S.4 Plain Edge ATS-34-Not received yet

I got the two Vantages ordered and a CS110 on order and two Damascus Drop Points made for a 110 with Grand Leavitt just waiting on installation into two NS Frames I sent him. And finally, I'm pre-ordered on two Advantage Avids.

I probably shouldn't have made myself realize how much I've spent and committed to this month....

Ok,
Time to dust this thread off a little.

So...a few more "09" bought knives to add to my heard.
WBC 09 set:
903
110
501 (my first 501:))

916 MT. Rushmore
916 purl with deer cut out

Boone & Crocket series
916 Daniel Boone pad print, stag
905 T. Roosevelt gold etch

501 blued with scroll engraving, gold Marine corps emblem (like PBD's flag knife)
403 stag

I just got a Buck 119 Special, I've wanted this knife ever scince I started to get into the great outdoors. I just got the most basic one i could find. I got it at wal-mart for about $40, A steal in my opinion. Its a top quality knife, and i could'nt be happier. I will soon be getting a Leather sheath for it, but the one it comes with now is great for any kind of canoeing kyaking, because its a water resistent courdoa sheath (I think), i probably am going to add a drain hole, because it dosent come with one. But for the money I dont see why i didnt buy it sooner.

Let's see, so far this year (between myself and stuff for my sons):

Stockman
3 Trios
2 Trappers
Nobleman
Vantage Pro

I've been gravitating towards more traditional slipjoint style knives, so I expect to pick up some of the Buck models made in the USA. Nothing against the ones I've gotten that were made in China; they have worked well for me so far. Just want to support USA manufacturing as much as possible.

this thread is not about the new 09 knives that buck is about to roll out. It's a tell us what buck knives you have gotten in 09;)....
I hope a few of you other fellow buck nuts will tell us about your 09 bucks:thumbup:.
