I am with you in the fact that I do not generally purchase cutlery made overseas, but to say No Chinese anything is more of a daydream than a reality unfortunately.
Yeap, just picked up my Microsoft optical mouse. Made in ChinaMy Dell keyboard is made in Thailand

Truth is, looks like my house probably has more products from overseas than made here in the US. Now as far as Buck having these made in China as stated above I am really hoping they come out with a higher end model made here in the states, but I fully understand what section of the market these models are made to fill. Buck will supply these to every Wal-Mart in the country and they will be competing with knives such as the Kershaw Vapor IIs and Gerber Gators and such. In order to bring in a model at that price point, it is necessary to produce these goods as cheap as possible in order to be competitive.
I have read many times before from Buck, Spyderco and Benchmade. In order to continue producing models made here in the US they must remain competitive and offer some lower end models that are outsourced. Although I don't like it I can understand the need

Well, that's a bet you'll lose. Believe me, I look & I notice. And if you make Walmart your primary place for shopping, then made in China is what you're gonna have in your house. I don't. The 1st thing I do when buying anything is to see where it's made. While I agree it's very difficult (& sad) finding made in USA products anymore, it can be done if you look for them. Made in USA knives? I don't have any problem finding them. This thread alone illustrates what the problem is. Here's a Buck that's made in China, being raved about. While it may be good knife, fact of the matter is, I can buy any # of USA made knives if I choose. Thankfully, that still can be easily done. A car, clothes, keyboard, TV, yeah, I'll agree with ya on that. But a knife? No way. Chinese made knives....no thanks. I'll buy American made as long as they're offered. And that was the jist of my point. When the choice can be made for buying American, I'll do it everytime. (provided of course, the quality is there) But many people don't. Instead, they'll just look for the cheapest price they can find.
