Nice knives Captain Mark. Looks like that Old Timer was a user ;)

Anyway, I am a happy camper. Just got a 1996 650 NightHawk to fill my sheath.

QUESTION for you NightHawk experts...

This is a bead blasted silver blade. The box says it has a "Black-oxided blade to protect against elements". Box also printed "Cat. 2206".

Is this the wrong box or did Buck just use the black box for all the NightHawks from that era?

Captain Mark...how's your NightHawk working out for you? Whatcha been doing with it?

Goose, my guess would be wrong box, but I am unsure, I will let you know in a few days LOL maybe we can trade boxes :D

Congrats on the new 650 bro'. Still loving mine, that's for sure.

.....hmmmm....let's see......I have been cutting more tree limbs, using the knife as a pry bar in a couple of instances. Doing a lot of digging around through burnt stuff. Cutting electrical wiring....just general abuse. I now have a couple of small dents on the sharp edge of the blade, but nothing bad. I have had to re-sharpen the knife 4 or 5 times, but the edge comes back easily. Some of the black sheen is wearing off, mainly at the edges/corners of the knife, not on the flat parts, if that makes sense. I'll try to get a new pic up in the next few days. Oh yeah, I now have a few small burnt spots on the plastic handle.

Bottom line, a big thumbs up. I still say, for the money this knife is top notch.:)

OK, here's the 655. I say it's holding up pretty well, seeing I have attacked several trees with extreme prejudice. And cardboard, and sheetrock, and the dreaded electrical wiring. As I mentioned before, I also used this knife with hot debris. You may see some burnt spots or discolorations in the handle. I call those personality marks. You can also see how well the blade is holding up. The black coating has come off in some places, like the serrated edge....no biggie. I have re-sharpened the blade several times and is sharper now than when I bought it. LOVE this knife. Buck ,you hit a homerun with this one!

Mark...
Did you order one of those Spec-Ops sheaths?
What do you use to sharpen?

Heck no, I haven't bought the sheath yet. I just bought a Glock 19, so it may be a couple of more weeks..it's on my to buy list!:)

For sharpening I use a cheapo Lansky metallic sharpening rod and an old set of Smith's ceramic sharpening sticks. Seems to do the trick.

Would a 119 fit well in that sheath? I know you'd want the shorter sheath, just wonderin' how well it would work with the finger guard and all.

Cool pics Mark and Goose. Glad to hear that your 655 is holding up well under hard use. Maybe I just got a bad blade on mine?

Great report Cpt Mark ! Glad to hear about the knife's ability to do lots of tough work. - - I'm a Buck fan too. I've been to the factory a couple times & done the plant tour. (I live in Washington state & one of my brothers lives in Spokane and the Buck plant is over in Idaho and a short drive away.) I might have to go over there in a few days. After reading your report I'll definitely have to check out the NightHawk. Regards, - -

Hey 777. Yes, please check out the Nighthawk. i have given mine a beating and it takes everything I dish out. For the money it's one of the best made IMO.
