New Buck Paperstone model

They have them a my WalMart, the price is $24 and change. I was going to get one and I seen they had the Vantage or whatever it's called. I've been wanting to play with that model for awhile so I bought it. I'll get the paperstone next. They also had a 110 for $25.00 and a slip joint I want to get. No new Paklites though. I still like my little silver uncoated shorter blade model they best.

I do like the paperstone looks. It appears to be built pretty good to and has stainless liners! Crap, I'm prolly going to have to go back and get it today. :)

I have two Paklites, one purchased from Dick's and the other from WalMart. Neither of them have the other model I want. I'll keep looking though. :)

I believe this model is available on Bucks web special page with the WM in the item #.

Ya it is, along with 2 other configs. Just grabbed the paperstone one, 20 clams, along with an Avid w/cherry dymondwood.
Free UPS Ground if $50 or more. Thanks for heads up.

I just received those exact same knives from the Buck web site. Amazing.

BTW they are both very nice.

I got a couple of the Odyssey 1 models yesterday and was surprised at the difference in the blades between the 181BKS (Sandvick) and the 181RDS1WM (420HC). The website shows all with the same design and grind blade, but the two are alot different. Did anyone else notice the difference? I'll post pictures when I get some sunlight.

Yes, the grind on the sandvic blade is more like the 182 blade without serrations! :)
Me likee!!

Just compared the two side by side. The 182 has the same bevel along the spine to the point... Just ever so slightly different. And the jimping always is sharper on the ats34 blades. Maybe different because of the way they were manufactured??

I love my oddyssey the blade profile is very thin and pointy and just perfect for lighter EDC task.

Whetrock, same here... Also a great blade design for light carpentry... Makes very accurate marking of length for cuts a breeze.
That's why I got excited when I saw it in the sandvic steel. With the etching vs stamping for blade marking I got to wondering if they were thinking of re-introducing it?

I don't have one of the older ones to compare the new one to but just looking at the catalog pictures, I see a similar but different blade grind. The new one has a very obvious "false edge" on the blade that isn't there on the older ones.

Plumberdv, take a look at a 182 if you can find a picture.
Very similar!

I found it and you are right. It's very nearly the same except that the false edge has more of a smooth, exended transition towards the tang, and of course, the serrations. I had a 182CF some time ago, but gave it to a soldier on his way to Afganistan. He came here to the forum looking for one and I just happened to have it.

One like the one I had.
