Just got the 2002 Buck catalog in today and here is a sampling of the products for 2002.

To kick it off, this is the Grip Saw. 10 1/8" long OAL. Kraton handle for a sure grip, and injection molded scabbard.

Alpha Hunters!

Your choice of Rosewood or Kraton scales. Fixed or Folding. Guthook or not. Rosewood has ATS-34; Kraton has 420HC.

Fixed: 4.25" blade
Folding: 3.50" blade

Since 2002 is the year Buck is celebrating their 100th anniversary, they are commemorating this milestone with some special commemorative pieces...

Some more collector knives...

Edit: Buck also has several other commemorative knives planned. For those going to SHOT, you'll see these and more.

...Nice-looking knives, but I don't see a Buck Nighthawk on steriods (9 inch blade) that I've been hoping to own "one of these days"...

Nice stuff!!! I really dig the Navigator tool, Revolution and Approach. They look like handy items for clipping onto a backpack. Lots of fishing possibilities too.

And that Strider fixed blade. That's one big knife!!! Here's hoping they make a BG-42 version!!!

The Alpha folding hunter is actually pretty sweet looking, for the well-dressed outdoorsman. ;) The alpha with gut hook is sure to be big on my father-in-law's list.

Buzz - what gives? I thought anything less than Talonite® puts you to sleep? :D LOL Yes, they are coming out with the SS in BG. BG's are slated for release hopefully next month. I am holding out for the BG!!

Looking at the whole line, particularly the 751 Approach, 435 Revolution and 753 Navigator, I have to say that I'm not too jazzed about any of them. It's a shame that Pete Quintanilla had to get laid off when whoever designed these three duds and the HitchHiker :barf: and Buck's web site still has a job. Sorry if that sounds brutal, but I don't see these models pulling Buck out of whatever fiscal funk it was that got Pete canned. :(

Okay Dex. I admit to still having an afinity for BG-42. No it's not Talonite, but I guess that one steel grows on you after awhile. I've used BG-42 out camping so often that I've grown to "trust it". It's something that even my meager skills can sharpen out in the field, and still holds an edge pretty well. I don't mind using stuff like ATS-34 around home, but I trust BG-42 in the woods...... if that makes any sense whatsoever.

Call me the mixed up metal guy.

The strider looks great and so do the folding hunters but everything just looks pretty lackluster. And what's with all of this caribeener stuff? What's next, a cliphanger copy? I really like Buck knives, but I don't know if I like where they seem to be going.

I dig the 'beaner stuff. I've always got 50 things hanging off me while outdoors, just so I don't have to go reaching into my backpack or fishing vest pockets every darn minute. I'd prefer to see 'beaners on everything.

The 'beaner watch is one of mans' greatest inventions, IMHO. That whole wrist strap thing was a torture implement designed to terrorize men with sweaty or wet wrists.

If the Revolution is actually quick to unclip and open with one hand, it could be quite a hit. It'd be a fixed blade that I could actually carry in public, without everybody staring at me like I'm some sort of predator. I'd be in stealth fixed blade mode. :)

I think the more modern designs, if nothing else, are people friendly. Forward thinking like this might actually help to make the knife socially acceptable once again. Sure, WE all know it's still a knife. But sheeple could have an entirely different perspective. The designer look may not smell of testosterone, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, given today's attitudes.

I'm with mnblade on this one and if this is all Buck is offering this year,I won't be buying any of the new offerings.Buck should really go back to their roots and focus on real knives and leave all these foo foo knives to the competition with the exception of the fixed strider.

I have a new Buck Strider Solution in ATS and can say that Buck has done an exceptional job with this one. Can't wait on the BG42 ones.
Anyone have a BG42 Buck Strider Spearpoint for sale???

Stay Sharp!
Scott
