I love the Cabelas Visa.

I have two Buck Solos and one Buck Trapper. Bought them out of the Cabela's club area of the website. They are not in the bargain cave.

After applying points they will cost me $1.61.

I think the two Solos might be destined for my almost ten yo daughter and ten yo nephew and the trapper may go to my 12 yo niece next Christmas.

I think this Trapper is going to replace my Benchmade Ambush as my EDC for a while. It is prety sweet.

The Solos are a bit smaller than I thought they would be. They might not be the best choice for a first knife.

The GATSTIX MICRO-X Pocket-Sized Ceramic Sharpener I purchased along with the Bucks looks like a very nice piece of kit. I a bit leary of breaking the ceramic sticks when changing between the fine and medium.

some times i wish i liked slippes better..
but 110 was my first love..

That is another reason why they will probably not given to the kids. I am thinking of some sort of locking blade.

I was showing the Trapper to the wife last night. She got it opened alright but when she went to close it she kept her fingers in the way. I politely stopped her and closed it for her. I was a bit concerned for a second.

Ya know if you teach em right from the get go it doesnt matter which one you give them. I gave my 10 year old daughter a little 425 thermoplastic lockback. Showed her how to open it, close it, cut with it and clean it. She should be ok. My 1st knife was a cheap Kamp-King multi knife and I still remember cleaning it after whittlin a stick by running thumb and finger the wrong way up the blade and laid open my finger. Nothing terrible and left a scar but mostly it left a lesson well learned. Never did it again. Getting them a Buck rather than a Kamp-King is a great benefit.
