Wow!

They're really going all out with these catalogues.

Mailman just handed me this huge 1347 page hardcover book....."Limited Spring Edition."

Man.....they must love me at Cabela's.

:D

Its amazing how much Cabelas spends on catalogs. One day, I got three different catalogs from them. Shooting, archery and one other that I can't remember what it was. These weren't the hardbacks though. It came seperately about a week later :D

I suppose they have done research to establish that it pays off......but I can't see how it does.

The internet is making catalogs obsolete real fast. The time lag for updating actual books is just too long.

I see they have the Kalinga Pro listed. I called to check on it and they say the fixed-blade is sold out and they have a few folders left. I asked if it was discontinued and he said yes. At $139.99 plus shipping for the folder, they'll probably be the last one to have them in stock.

I am going to bag and save the big hardcover. The way things are going it will be the next big collectible.

Don't bag it in plastic. That prevents air circulation and encourages mold. It's best to box it. Simplest way is to get a closely fitting box and place sheets of acid-free paper between the book and the box. Or better, go to an office supply and get an acid-free clamshell box made of card stock for it.

I've never done that, but I'm going to check on that clamshell acid-free.

I'm either air-conditioned or heated 24-7-365 days a year though.....so my stuff stays pretty safe no matter what I do with it.

Gives me a good excuse to stay comfortable.

:)

You truly are NOT living up to your name!!!

:)

I know,,,it is sad, but if you could see this mess you would understand. I just gave away a box that had well over 250 NatGeo maps in it. That young school teacher loved them.

Can't keep it all .... now i gotta clean up this 35 to 40 dots and no dots scattered all over the floor, just because of that inverted two liner thread...:o

The acid free clamshell is the best solution. That is what archives use for book conservation. And it sits on the shelf like a book, or stacks. They often have a place for a label or hand-printed title. It also prevents UV light exposure (fading).

What do you mean.......can't keep it all!!!???

LOL! I had a few knives laying around due to that thread, too!!

But it's fun.

:)

Is always fun looking over the ones being talked about. I am just slow to get it all put back to where it was.

Well,,I looked for last years and I guess I did recycle it, and went and checked the mail. Wasn't a new one. But I kinda sorta don't expect one this year. My spending level with them went to zero this last year.

They even sent me a nasty note that my card will be canceled soon if I don't use it ... I can always use some more ammo...

Yes, I do need to get at least some of those. Right now I have about 100 books on Amazon and I just keep them on shelves in the back of the basement. So far, so good, but I should do better with some of the more valuable ones.

I have about 400 books and 200 LP record albums staring me in the face here above ground on a wall of shelves. About 50 knives and misc. collectibles, too. There are a few things I should store a little better and, worse yet, I haven't even started on an inventory of everything for the day I drop dead......so much to do.

But I'm so busy having fun.

:)

I can always use some more ammo

Ammo HAS been getting a little more available and cheaper......it was pretty ugly there for a while.

And......I just got the 110s put away this morning, so I'm not much ahead of you.

Now it's time for somebody to start another fun 110 thread.

:)

yup...we need another 110 thread, been a couple days...

found one of these in this mess that must be a fake. Someone stamped it on the wrong side, and another one has this 440 stainless stamped on wrong side.

I got one stamped on the wrong side that's not a fake.

:) Maybe yours is ok.

That 440 don't sound good though.

Ya think :p:D:D

that 440 one even has some funny button thang that when ya push it the blade tries to jump out and cut me.:D

Just messin wit ya.... and yeah...I probably paid too much for that back side two liner :o. But oh well..

I doubt that you paid too much if you keep it a while.

The idiot that stamped mine did it not only on the wrong side.......but upside down.

Just kidding about the idiot part......

:)

That guys workstation must have gotten inverted that day.

Would actually probably be more rare if they hadn't of been inverted on the backside... but oh well..

Really? Here I was thinking it was better that way.

Like you say.......Oh well, back to e-Bay to try again.

:)
