The blade is coated with a product called Duracoat, which was designed for firearms, and is supposedly very durable. We'll see.

In my experiences with duracoat and othe like firearm finishes is that they will come off chip and the like but that looks great and it is a great rust protecter

Please let us know how the coating holds up. While I prefer a nice satiny blade... a nice satiny hard use blade shortly becomes a nice orange blade around WA state! lol
