Well I put this day off as long as I could..At 70 and health issues creeping back it's time to find new caretaker's of most of my beloved rare and odd 112's. As most of you know I have chased and loved them for many years now. David took me to the Blade Show in 2007 while there I joined the BCCI and started this Journey. Next year I came back and became LM 1209. Over the next decade I was Blessed to display and win 4 Awards for single model and loved every minute being a part of the BCCI and the Buck world. That's NOT over yet but it's time for new homes for many of my knives. I've been in contact today with a few members here about knives I received from them with a promise to let them know if I was going to part with them..I only chased rare odd one of one and prototype for years but in the last few I picked up 112's I just liked lolol!! I promised the folks at the 112 Facebook page I was going to post some there and I'll list some here on the Bucks for Sale section as well. I've never been organized as much as I should have been as a collector and in all these years have sold less than a handful...ever. So it will take me a while to get pictures and decide what to ask for them..
I just don't want them to be sold at a yard sale for $20.00 or less lolol! More importantly I want them to go to good homes and collections. That's important to me. Some will not be sold. Like the MOP the good folks on the forum here gifted me when KathyJo passed a few years ago. BCCI Award knives and a few my granddaughters liked. 112's like that. I thought I should give all of you a heads-up first if you admired some over the years after I finally figured out how to post pics lolol! This will be a process that will take time for me to do. Larry REALLY has the procedure down. That's all tonight..

Just turned 71 myself so we are both at the beginning of our 8th decade. I've also given some thought to the amount of money I have tied up in my collection and wether it is wise to continue at the same place. I have 'almost' as many 112's as you but multiply that by a dozen+ different models. I've also got bigger fish to fry so I'm starting in the barn. I put some of my vintage chainsaws for sale on marketplace, some of the garden tractors will be next.

I am not a spring chicken either, but I could be interested in what you might be offering provided the price is right and I don't have it already. I've always enjoyed the knowledge I've received from you and other people on this forum as I build my own 112 collection.

I turn 71 in a few weeks and have also begun to rethink my collecting/accumulating position. I not only have about 150 Buck knives, there is also my 45+ years of being an avid collector of Smith & Wesson's, Marlin's, Ruger's and gold/silver coins. After my wife of 15 years passed away two years ago from Parkinson's disease, the fire has gone out in my collecting enthusiasm as well. Looks like we're all reaching the same point... man, the market is going to get flooded with people's collection downsizing.

I'm 75, and my wife quit complaining about all the guns & knives I buy many years ago. Now she just wants to know how much she can get for them when I die.:) Seriously though, I have no doubt that our three sons & one son-in-law will take very good care of all the stuff I've accumulated over the years.

I’m a few years away from having to worry about my accumulation of knives. But I’m not looking forward to the day I have to start. No Grandkids yet and my daughters are not interested in the collection aspect other than having a few that are sentimental. I’m sure between the various collector groups you belong to they won’t go to any garage sale tables.

Dang, you probably have some nice Bucks. Would be nice to see pictures of some of your stuff for people like me, who can only dream of it.

It just seems so.. alien to sell knives when I have spent over 2 decades finding them. I REALLY love the thrill of the hunt even to this very morning. But with Atrile fibrilation killing my ability to even go to shows 18 months ago I started to rethink it. Meds helped and I got better and put off any decision. But in case something happens to me I don't want the kids to have to deal with them. I've never sold anything on eBay but pricing one of one Bucks.. difficult.

Some unasked for advice - sell one buck/item; let the complete transaction sink in (pricing, listing, selling, shipping, customer/new owner satisfaction). Each step in the process can be very emotional. Sell your least favorite Buck, or one that you have multiples of, this way you won't miss it as much.

Then use that money for something fun. Make it special. Save up from a few sells if necessary. This way you will have new positive memories to go with selling your collection.

My advice is based on selling my father's large and very diverse collection. That first sell was brutal. It took me over two years to even start to think about selling. Then another year to do it and it was emotional. But after that first sell and each sell after, it became easier. And in my mind was a saying of my father's, "we are all just curators for a short time of these things we love". I will also add, when the knife goes to someone who will appreciate it, it makes the sell easier, but, don't let this be a critical factor in your sells. Because, as you continue to make sells this will become less critical and you ultimately have no control over what that person does with the knife after the sell.
