New Carnivore- Is It Supposed to Rattle?

Just received my new Carnivore from Discount Knives. Handle feels great, seems really solid. Not a very sharp edge- I worked it over once with my 204 and improved it somewhat. Will probably try again. I also noticed that, when closed, there is a rattle when you shake the knife. It doesn't rattle when opened/locked. I presume this is some element of the lock mechanism. Is this normal? What exactly is it?

Just to confirm, the factory edge is definitely thicker than I'd like also. It's especially thick at the belly, but thins out considerably along the recurve. Based on my experience with another recurved blade (the Axis), performance will be positively outstanding once you thin the edge out and rough it up.

The rattle in your knife got past us, oops. It is the Blade Stop Pin the one in front. There is no effect on the action. I small drop of super glue in one or both sides will work wonders. Be very sparing dont lock up the knife with super glue.

I have two Carnivours. One as a user and one as a putter upper. (Thanks Jeff of Confederate Cutlery) Both of them rattle. It definately is the stop pin as Mr. Taylor states. my question is this: other than being a little annoying does the rattle affect function? The stop pin still works fine. It just rattles if you shake the knife in the closed position. Or is this something that could be a more serious problem if not corrected?

I was just going to post this very same concern. My new pioneer II does the same thing.I don't don't recall it being there for the first couple of days.I was cycling it quite a bit then all the sudden I heard a rattle. It is the stop pin and I can move it by hand with a small screw driver.I don't really like it.Will the loose fit cause premature wear?Should it be sent in for repair or is the superglue trick the same fix that the factory would make? Please let us know.Thanks.

I did the super glue thing. It works for now. I am not sure how permanent a fix this is. Overall I am still impressed with this knife though. It is quickly becoming my favorite. I have never held a knife that melts in the hand like the Carnivour does. As a matter of fact when I hold any of my other knives they feel alot worse ergonomically.

The stop pins we had were a tad short and there is no effect to the function or durability of the knife. We call these the Limited Gloria Estafan edition (just joking) The super glue will work just fine if you want a more positive fix (and no we won't void your warranty) you can remove the scale on the side without the lever ( removing the lever side results in cussing and crawling on the floor looking for that f%$% spring.)
you can use silcone or super glue or your favorite glue to take up the slack on the stop pin. Dont lose the damn screws please.
