New Case Brick Red Select Trapper

Is it just Trusharp? Case had a line of olive green bone knives in ATS34 that may have been dubbed select that I believe had a little higher grade finish. I wish they would do some more like that, somewhere between regular line and Case/Bose.

Hello,

I do not know the blade material. I have scoured the internet and I have found nothing at all about these new Select knives. The finish is alot better than some of the other Case knives I have handled. The scales match in color and the blades are centered. No gaps.... So far so good.

Thank you,

Nathan

The 'Case Select' knives use the same base materials as the standard Case line. In other words, the same Tru-Sharp stainless (420HC), same nickel bolster material, same bone for the covers. The upgrade comes in the finishing touches, with nickel liners on knives usually featuring brass in the standard line, and grooved or pinched bolsters, full flat grinds, swedging and long pulls on the blades, and special tang stamps, blade etches and unique shields. Also some more exotic cover material at times, like upgraded stag, pearl or mammoth ivory.

Case has occasionally produced limited runs in different steels, though not necessarily dubbed as 'Case Select'. In particular, I remember a limited run of several patterns in what they called 'red barnboard bone' and 154CM, around 2007. Still kicking myself for not pouncing on a couple of those at the time. :(
