I've got nothing remotely like it!

The Buck has a prettier clip, but I like the wider sheepfoot on the Case.

Not much to choose between as far as the spay goes, as far as I'm concerned.

It's my first G10 handle. The texturing feels very distinct, but not uncomfortably sharp. It's meant to be the color and pattern of your Carhartt jacket. Mine has changed color a bit in 20 years, it seems.

The Case may be an eighth of an ounce lighter than the Buck. The Case clip is maybe a sixteenth of an inch longer.

It didn't occur to me these knives might be similar until after I'd ordered the new one. I would have bought it anyway, though. $32. Ordered Monday, shipped Tuesday, arrived in Michigan from Kentucky Thursday. I have no complaints with the USPS at all.

What's your opinion on the two? I've been eyeing a 307, just not sure if it would replace my large Case. Thx

It's an awfully close call. I haven't actually used the Case yet, but the f&f are superb. I'm not a squinting for light kind of guy, but the Case has no gaps at all and the Buck has one faint glimmer. No blade rubbing on either, though it's early days for the Case.

Both have names to conjure with. We keep getting threads about the hit-or miss quality of Case, but mine are all hits. A website I didn't buy from says that the Case Carhartts get extra hand finishing and tweaking, and I believe it, though I of course can't swear to it.

I think the Case has slightly less breadth to the clip blade, and noticeably more on the sheepfoot, so maybe go by which blade you're more worried about wearing out? The Case has a bit stronger pull and snap.

Nice Carhartt! Now if Case would only do a line of their knives in cotton duck micarta, carhartt brown and navy. I'm sure those would be big hits.

Noooo, these Carhartt/Case knives have cost me enough already. But I would like to see that myself. I also wish they would have done a sodbuster.

I love the Case Carhartt's. I have the medium stockman, and the fit and finish is absolutely top notch. My father-in-law's Carhartt Backpocket knife is perfect as well.

That Case Large Stockman is a great looking knife that looks like it is ready to do some real work. I don't really need another Case knife right now, but that one looks tempting, especially at that price.

That's what got me. I'd been waiting for the yellow sowbelly stockman to come down, and there on the specials page was this, for $20 less than the sowbelly.
I vow to start using it and stop worrying about getting it dusty or scratched.

You know that Carhartt single-blade Sowbelly in molasses bone is on that same page, at a stupidly good price. I have never liked the Case Sowbelly in the 3-blade configuration but the 1-blader has always tempted me. I've got another knife in the dark molasses bone and it is much more attractive in person than the pics. Just sayin', in case you are still looking around.

Back on topic though - hard to tell about the texture of that G-10 or how thick the scales are from the side pics. How is it in the hand, and how thick?

That must be the best looking case I can remember seeing. Especially like the clip blade.

It was love at first sight in a Carhartt store. I totally overpaid, but don't regret it a bit. I could have hand picked from ten different ones, but the first one I tried was absolutely perfect.

I really dig the "as ground" finish on the blades, and the unique bolster shape.

Oh Man!! I've been really wanting one of those! The satin, raw finish on the blades is very appealing to me for some reason and I love me a good stockman. I'm pretty jeluos...The only problem is is at the price point its personally hard for me to justify over other things. Congrats on your new knife!

Case large stockman are great. I have several and carry one daily. The Buck 307 is long out of production and the 301 just doesn't compare to the Case, ugly clip and not as big as the 307.

Very cool. I considered getting one of these at that price point, but I'm not too keen on the Carhartt logo. I gotta warm up to it, I suppose. I do like the brown G10 though.

Evan though there are some really great Brands out there these day's when it comes to the Stockman IMO you just can't beat a Case.

Thanks, guys. The logo doesn't bother me. I wouldn't pay to wear a T-shirt advertising them, but I like my bibs and jacket, and I don't mind their name on my knife. As long as it also says "Case".

I get 9/16" thickness on both of them, though the Buck is a hair thicker. (I know that's a caliper, but I've never obtained a reading from it that I believe, so I have to measure across the jaws with something else.)
The edges of the Buck handles are chamfered on the blade side, and the Case ones are square-edged. The Case rocker pin ends are prominent but smooth, and broad rather than tall. Buck handles are secured to the liners by the plastic being cast or pressed into holes. The Case's are pinned.
The weave pattern on the G10 feels sticky rather than sharp. It feels like pumice stone, or that frothy sugar that the British chef Nigella Lawson makes while wearing a dressing gown and flirting with the camera.

I always come back to the stockman. I love my Case Carhartt mini-trapper with clip and wharncliffe, but I find myself missing the short blade.

Imo the case 6375 stockman is one of the best traditionals around, its just a great size and loves to work. I have an amber bone cv, amber bone rancher cv and a blue delrin ss one. You will end up with 3 or 4 before you know it!

I'm paying for this one by skimping on beer, which will moderate my zeal for buying more new knives for awhile. But yeah, nice to have an extra or two.
