This could be some very good news indeed:thumbup:

Here is your challenge of the day, Case fans: Spread the word.

Around that web, I often read guys posting about how "Case doesn't make 'em like they used to," and "You just can't get good high-carbon knives anymore," and so on. Well if, like me, you believe it's a good thing that Case is still around, and still making knives in the U.S., and still making killer knives in CV steel, let other folks know about it. Speak up. You can point folks in the direction of those Sambar stag cv knives (I did find the link, Zuchus), and/or you can give them this link, which lists their other CV offerings.

It's great that Case seems to be listening to us knife geeks ..... no let's make it worth their while so they'll keep listening.

Funny, I received an email advertising these about a week ago, and even thought about posting something. I figured everyone else already knew about them.

I've been continually checking them out, trying to decide which one(s) to get. I'm a big fan of wharncliffs, but I also love my Texas Jack, and have always wanted one in stag. Decisions, decisions..

Agreed and thanks for the measurements. A couple points I feel detract also:

1. Not as "swaybacked" as the original. Much flatter backsprings

2. Wider liners and bolsters - this gives it most of the bulk about 1/8"

3. Hafting has changed where the final product is slab-sided. Not as barrel shaped in cross section as the old ones.

Still a fine knife and great to use.

Totally agree with your observations, Tom!:cool:

They had a couple of these at BLADE. At least the ones there looked VERY NICE!

I've always wanted a 5347. Love those round bolsters!

I hope the stag lives up to the hype, I really dislike buying any stag sight unseen because it is very easy to get mediocre stag at best and often mismatched stag. I would buy if I could hand pick I am sure.

I agree, I like to see stag before I buy, especially for case. I like case for many things, but I don't generally like their stag. Sometimes its too thick, sometimes its two worn, sometimes it has too much "belly" and sometimes it looks like bone. In general, I wish they'd spend more time thinning the slabs from the back rather than "pretty" side.

I really don't know what to say about this one. It is like Case is.....listening. :)

That was my thought exactly, as I pawed through the new Shepherd Hills catalog. Aside from the obligatory laser-engraved tackiness, there are a lot of new, very traditional and attractive choices. Case IS listening.

The knife in the new stag/CV line that really tickles my fancy is this one:

:)

Call me traditional, but I don't care for the Black Case XX branded on the stag at all. :thumbdn: They've done this before with larger "brands" that I think looks even tackier. I would much prefer the shield. I do like the new tang stamp.

The stag CV is nice but you know what I would really love to see? The antique peachseed bone series in CV! Oh yeah!

With a nice shield like Thawk mentioned. That would be one fine looking pocketknife.

Personally, the lack of a shield is a deal breaker. But that is just me.

Corey, I don't remember seeing the #47 at BLADE, so don't know whether 2 or 3 springs.
