Thank you everyone.

I'm going to check out the Note 3. Might be a bit big for me, but I'll give it a look.

We upgraded my wife last week from a HTC Merge to an iPhone 5S. She loves it. I'm also upgrading my youngest daughter to an iPhone 5S from her Galaxy SIII for Christmas, so she quits kidnapping her Mom's.

I like the battery life on the iPhones compared to the Galaxy. I use my iPhone 4S all day for calls, email, some business apps, and it still hovers around 65% battery at the end of the day. My SIII is under 50% at the end of the day, and I barely do anything but a few emails, texting with my daughters, and maybe an app or two.

Keep the suggestions coming!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am lucky if my battery last a full day. I am using my cell phone right now as a hot spot so I can get on the net with my laptop. this kills a battery really fart .

Get a note 3! I just upgraded from the original note. This phone is awesome, has great battery life, really quick and you can multi task. Just a great phone. Plus if I turn on power saver I can get over 44 hours on a charge while using my phone a lot. But it's all in what you like and works for you. Good luck

Give the blackberry z30 a look. Really underrated. Has great battery life and works great for all things that I need. It can take most android apps as well.

My iphone 5 is in the cloud with my ipad 3. I can use a full sized keyboard to load contact information into my phone. Both devices are cellular data enabled, so I am not tethered to a wifi sender. They both have 64 GB memories, so I don't have to worry about running out of storage space. I lost my Blackberry in a taxi cab. Best thing that ever happened to me.

I am in a similar situation. I have a Galaxy s II which I like but I am looking for an upgrade. I had an iPhone before but I don't like using iTunes for transferring music and video. It was just too frustrating to use compared to doing a "drag and drop" on the Samsung. There were other things but just in general I don't like how controlling Apple is.

I kinda wish the Samsung Galaxy s4 was just a little bit smaller. It does take up a lot of pocket space and the operating system isn't as refined as Apples. Still I will probably end up getting an s4 or an s5 when it comes out.

I looked at the Nexus 5, but it isn't offered by my carrier, and they say they cannot activate an unlocked version.

My first 'smartphone' was a Blackberry. It did email and texting just fine, but it sucked for the web.

Motorola. I used to have their flip phones, and loved them. However, I've heard good, and bad about their Android phones. More bad than good.

One advantage to an iPhone for me is that I have an iPad 3 my girls got me for Christmas last year. It would be nice to have one platform. That is changing however, since I'm now looking at a Surface Pro 2., or a WIN 8 convertible ultrabook. (Need to run Windows programs.) And I absolutely do not want a Windows phone.

I'm going down to physically look at and hold a Note 3 and see if I can get it in my pocket comfortably with an Otterbox on it.

The Note 3 is a beast. It is surprisingly much easier to deal with than I thought it would be and I even have it in an Otter Box defender case. I highly recommend checking it out. Unless you absolutely cannot deal with the overall size of the phone it is the best device out there.

Had the same Motorola Droid OG since 12/09 and had to replace it. The Galaxy s4 was my choice until the Verizon salesman said "drop it and it is done. They are fragile" That was enough for me. Got a Droid Ultra and I love it. I don't use it very much for entertainment just work, email, internet, maps, etc. Great phone.

I don't watch very many videos on my phone. I don't watch movies at all, or play games, so a huge screen isn't a necessity.

I've had no issues with dropping the SIII, but it is covered by an Otterbox defender, and I've only dropped it a few times in the 1-1/2 years I've had it. If the S4 is as fragile as I keep hearing, then it is not an option.

I'm heading to the store tomorrow to look at the Note 3, and buy my daughter her iPhone.

Happy Thanksgiving!

The huge screens come in handy when you want to put a lot of content on the screen. For you to be able to read text it needs to physically be a certain size... so even if the resolution is the same on two device a bigger screen equals more text on screen. I read books, emails and do a lot of web-browsing on my phone so I like to have a big screen.

I have not heard that the s4 is particularly fragile. You can break anything if you try. I have seen both devices broken from a fall and they make an "active" version of the s4 that is supposed to be ruggedized/water resistant. Cases can be had for both devices that will make breaking them harder.

Happy Turkey Day!

My S4 does every single thing better than my wifes Iphone 5S. Her reason for wanting the Iphone is "Its cute".

The S4 is simply a superior product no matter how you look at it.

Everyone has different preferences, I have owned and used every platform save Windows phone.

I use Windows Phone 8 and do not recommend it. I had to buy the cheapest T-Mobile phone. The phone is solid but Windows Phone 8 is like an Android or iOS beta. Microsoft needs to put more programmers on it.

Galaxy note 3, nicest phone out there bar none.
I am typing on a Mac Tower Pro, we own three iPads, my wife and son both have iPhones.

This said, I wouldn't swap my Galaxy Note 3 for the iPhone at all. I love the larger screen. In fact, I now rarely use my iPad because it's not as necessary.

I'm increasingly frustrated with the ball and chain locking into confusing 'iTunes' with the Apple media. Screw that.
