New chant: KhukRat

So, I heard that Khukuris are cool... and RES-C is pretty cool... and SR-101 is also cool... you know, just sayin'.

:)

- Flat grind convexed edge SR-101 diff tempered: Check
- 12'' blade: Check
- Res-C handles: Check

Got things wrapped up !

I've been thinking this over and after using a super heavy Zilla or two, and Dave is right. I think a .187-.220 thick Khukrat would have to be a pretty darn popular user. It would be really hard to balance a super thick one right with the Res-C. If it is too heavy it won't get used or carried nearly as much, even though it would be impressive. Micarta or G-10 transmit way too much shock on the big choppers too. Just sayin'.

I am in agreement with Tim and Dave on the thickness issue, no more than 1/4". Honestly the same thickness as my Waki would be great, or perhaps 3/16".
This would be the ultimate CQZW (Close Quarter Zombie Weapon)! :D

KhukRat, that would be nice!! Mr. Wolf had an Idea for something along those lines. Hopefully it will happen in one form or another.. What about a RatParang? Just sayin'

I'm still in just trying to keep this thread alive. I think that it would be an instant legend in the swamp rat world.

I think the Kuk needs to be thick. If its going to be .187-.25 I could by a cold steel kukri machete for a whole lot less.

Res C is very light but I think the crew at the swamp will be able to make it well balanced :D

OR to make everyone happy a thick on from the swamp and an ultralight from the scrapyard :D

I agree the weight does suck. My KZ II is a pain to lug around and I don't carry it on trips that involve really extended hikes without / horses/ atvs/ canoes etc..

For a 12'' blade I would prefer .25 minimum for long term durability. To maintain a good balance I also think that a WIDE hidden tang is a good idea.
A Kuk needs some forward weight anyways !

Ill take mine in sage, tanker or black w/ pumpkin or Black/Tan G10's pls. Comon-gotta be different then the KZ right. Sounds like it would be a beast of a rat though. I'd be in!! Lets get this going for say, the next 2 years- and hopefully we will see it.

If the handle isn't Res-C I'm not buying it !
I want a blade I can actually use to chop for long periods. The KZ is nice but a rubber handle is better. I'm ashamed to say that I prefer the cold steel kuk over the KZ for that reason !

Comparing a cold steel to a Busse KZ-- That's like comparing a ford escort to a Bentley. Yeah, they are both cars- or knives here, but apples and oranges. There is a reason one is 50 bucks, and one is 800. I'm just sayn.

Your absolutely right but for me the comfort of the rubber grips means that the CS knife gets used more even if it's inferior on the other departments.
If you do any extended chopping you know what I am talking about.
