Santa Claus (me) is bringing me a Chinook III for Christmas. I've never had a Chinook and look forward to getting another tank-like folder in the Spyderco stable. I have a Manix and Mini-Manix and love the comfort of the grip. I hope the Chinook grip is as comfortable.

It's got a great grip on it, and a really thick lock. I recently got one, but missed out on the Manix lineup.

I've wanted one since the original came out. I remember the design drawings from one cutlery magazine or another. I'm glad I finally got off the dime. I'm sure it will be great knife.

A heavy, tanklike knife with a rock solid lockback, nice ergonomics, and a fully flat ground and very pointy blade? What's not to like, my friend? :D

Willieboy,
I think that was an extremely old issue of 'Fighting Knives' magazine. I have it around the house, somewhere.

I have the originaL CHINOOK. Built like a little tank. Never got around to getting either of the updates. I know Unsub loves his Chinook III.

Have fun with yours!

The chinook III is the best of the series IMO... And it also has the most comfortable handle that spyderco offers.. And it is MBC rated..
you will love it!

I have a Chinook III and I love it.

I've seen the design for the original, and I'm looking for one. I love the blade shape, with the hollow grinds and the flat spine. ;)

I like all three of the Chinook models.

Man Roo, you've must have been collecting knives for a long time to have issues of Fighting Knives around. That magazine has been sucking wind for eons.

Hey Willieboy, since when is South Texas in NJ? ha ha ha ha ha

I got a Chinook III recently and liked it so much I went right out and got another as backup. I doubt I'll be able to damage the first one, though.

Here's the reason for my cryptic location Esav. I also participate on the Jerzee Devilz forums and sought be be one of the guys. So, I looked for any possible connection I might have with New Jersey. I remembered my dad was staitioned on an Army base there during WW II. I spoke to my mom and sure enough, a connection existed..., I was conceived in NJ before my dad shipped out to the South Pacific. So, I started in NJ and will likely end my days in South Texas. Really grasping at staws huh?

When resources permit, I may try to pick up another Chinook III too for backup. Jill Jackson is my role model because she has duplicates, triplicates.... of some of her favorites. I have one Manix, one Mini-Manix, and one Lil' Temp that I've boxed up because I'd hate to lose or damage the only ones I own.

REALLY grasping at straws. If that's your connection with NJ, then I'm from St, Louis, Missouri.

You can be a Jerzee Devil even if you do live in Texas, though. Devilz iz all over da woild.

I love mine too especally once I got the hang of sharpening that deep belly on the sharpmaker. Brought it right back to factory sharp. I like the blade shape, and grip and I find I carry it more then my manix.

As a displaced yankee, that NE accent is music to my ears.
