I've got a new chopper on order, it should be here in about 3 weeks :D It's the Jungle Model Khukuri from Khukuri House:thumbup: Got 2 of them comming(one for me & one for a co-worker) Any of you tried any of KH khuk's ? Tell me all about it, I can't wait for mine :p

Coaldigger,

Got a link or a pic? I don't own one, but I bet HD, Ilbruche or one of those guys will give you an earful.... I almost bought that "those who gave" model a while back...

I saw their website, I liked a lot of their stuff. If they had a US distributer I would have considered them, but gave up on international shipments after a couple of bad instances.

They are good blades for the price. The fit and finish won't be as good as a Himalayan Imports khuk and they are generally not as hard either. Usually the edge of a HI will be around 59-60RC The jungle is around 45 or so. It's probably made out of old railroad track or a leaf spring.

This is a large difference and a major factor in deciding between the two. Where does this information come from?

I've had both too, and Bruche is right. They're OK. But the edge is softer.

They'll give you a GREAT feel for what a khuk should be though. Then when you're hooked, get an HI and a Tora. (You'll have to save up for that Tora.)

Both of those companies make bombin khuks.

The blade is made from old military truck leaf springs. You can go to the KH site & see how they make them. & yes if I like Khukri's then I will get the British model from HI.($100.00)

Just got this bad boy from HI last week, it's awesome you won't be disapointed:thumbup: I'm not familiar with the jungle model but this M-43 is so good I think I'm gonna have to order another one

Crap just read where you are ordering from Khukri House, guess I should read post more thoroughly:o

That is one nice Khuk you got there WVHILLS  I like it ! What does that model go for ? What size blade ?

Thanks it's an M-43, it's 18 inches overall of pure choppy goodness. It is a regular $145.00 usd but I lucked out and caught this one for an even $100.00 on Yangdu's deal of the day! She generally post some sort of steal over in the HI forum everyday:thumbup:

Yeah, be advised that if you're being intimidated by the list prices on H.I. khukuris, you can often snag a great deal by lurking on the H.I. subforum at the time of day (lately early afternoon or so) when they post the almost-daily bargains. First, get an idea of what you want and what you're willing to pay. Ask questions on that subforum if you have them. Then, if a deal is posted that you like, and you e-mail your intention to buy (along with your address and payment method), and IF you beat everybody else to the punch, you can get a great knife for well under the usual list price. It may have some removable surface rust or a cosmetic-blemish handle crack--usually not something that would affect functionality--but it'll be a great knife, at a price that's at least competitive with the Khukuri House price once you compare H.I.'s free U.S. shipping against K.H.'s extra-$20-or-so shipping.

Never having held a KH khuk before, I can't speak from experience, but I think I've read that the KH kardas aren't as functional as the H.I. ones are, either. (The karda being the little knife that comes with the khukuri for smaller cutting tasks.)

Thanks, I'll keep my eyes open & it's free shipping in the U.S. on those specials???? Wish I would waited before I ordered the KH Jungle Model now:grumpy: Oh Well now I'll just have an excuse to get another BLADE:D

I can't seem to find anything wrong with mine??? Do they always have something wrong with them or could it be an issue of overstock?

Oh.. this is only the start, we can all vouch for that.

I'm counting 3 HI's and possibly a 4th soon.:D:D:D

I've always wanted a KH one.

It is my understanding that in the past before they had their own shop HI khuks were made by KH.

Always wanted to try one of the Panawal Ang Kholas.

The only thing that has put me off was the price with shipping.

I think I looked into it one time and it was like 40 bucks for shipping?? That put the price over what HI charges plus with HI's guarantee if it messed up it was a lot easier to return to Nevada than Katmandu.

So you said you ordered two? What did the shipping run you? If I could order several and save on shipping to bring the price down I'd love to try some of their stuff.
