New Cody Lundin designed knife from TOPS

I see a mora/enzo trapper in there. Doesn't matter....Tops got a scandi going. And it looks good.

Thank you!

I knew that blade reminded me of something, I just wasn't sure what.

It looks a lot like the Condor Bushlore that Joe designed. The new thinner one is a good knife.

Looks great to me. Hopefully I never see one in a store. I'll just lust after it and stick with Moras.

I've been a fan of Cody's for a long time so I would probably pick one up if the price is right. Though I still haven't quite warmed up to scandi's :o
That's my thoughts exactly. Cool knife but scandi's are just not my cup of tea.

I cruised back through the E2E Shot Show coverage with Joe, and BOOM! right there at 2:30 he shows it. Looks like a great thickness, hope it comes out like that. I'm pretty sure it's the same knife anyway. Come on Joe, tell, tell! ;)

Edit: Dang, how do you embed youtube again? Well, it's there anyway. And the Shango-zilla still looks great too.

Hmmm... Later in the video the Tops rep gives credit to Joe, not Cody. I know marketing goes a long way and while I like Cody, I like that Joe had a hand in the design and Tops bringing a scandi to market (which I suspect is closer to the truth than what you see in the industry magazines).

Either way, I hope it does well. I'll be watching for this one.

to me the knife seems almost like the pathfinder 2 knife, but a little thinner. maybe like a pathfinder meets a mora?

That's what I thought too. As for post #26, I HIGHLY doubt that it'll be under $50. That's what keeps me from buying TOPS for the most part. Over-priced. Most of their designs are too radical for me, but let's be honest, Micarta is cheap and so is 1095.

Retail material cost for a knife of 1095 and micarta is about $20 or so, and you know that the factories get quantity pricing.

I love 1095 and I love Micarta, but if I'm shelling out more than $75 or $80 for a 1095 knife, it'll be from a custom maker on here. Just my 2 cents....

Quite so. My position on that was reaffirmed recently when looking at a 1095 6” Benchmade going for about £60. Seemed fair relative to everything else here. A different factory offering wanted double to fill that niche with the same sort of tool and only the micarta was a conspicuous difference. Elevated prices for 1095 make a certain amount of sense to me if a custom maker is going to capitalize on some property of it, but not a factory banging them out in the vanilla at 57/58.

I've seen that nincompoop's show with the bare feet and WCW Wresting / Thundercats “danger”, “death” audio cut-ins so I want to hate this knife. Apart from the fact I don't dig on Scandis it does look a smart little knife from that vid. If it went for £40 or mebe £50 here in either 1095 or the 440C that would seem congruous with the market.

Price? Take whatever it should go for and double it because it's made by Tops!

So one of Cody's friends (also the person that helps run his website and Facebook page) confirmed that this is not his design. It's funny, I'm not a Facebook person but I entered through his site, and saw the above pic that I took, so somebody posted it there I guess :) Anyway, she stated this about the knife:

"If they are It is NOT endorsed by Cody. The ONLY knife he uses is the Mora... If they market it as a Cody Lundin Model, he will be having his attorney contact them."

So that clears that up

I'm assuming it was either a misprint in the knife mag, or TOPS was misquoted. I did remember that Joe was credited as the designed in a SHOT show video so I hope that is the case and that he gets proper credit for the knife design.

Well... oh well I guess. I will just keep using Moras as I was then. Or I may still get one if it looks good enough.

I like Cody Lundin, but I could never see him actually carrying that. Just buy the Mora. For the price of the TOPS version, you could buy 5 Moras. Kind of nutty.

Not the type of knife I would expect a guy like Cody come up with as his unique design.

(well it apparently really isn't either...)
