New cold steel stuff

Many knife companies do not make their own knives. AlMar doesn't, many of Spyderco are made else where. That doesn't make them bad blades.

I think Eye Brand makes about the best carbon steel stockman around. Check them out at Top of Texas. A lot of Texas stockmen and cowboys swear by them, won't use anything else.

Sorry, forgot which thread I was on.

Hopefully, these comments will help.

The new Cold Steel traditional pocket knives are excellent. They are made for Cold Steel by Camillus as are the other Carbon V knives. The handles are plastic. Probably Delrin. If you like Carbon V and traditional designs, you won't go wrong with these.

AlMar knives are all made in Japan. The Sere 2000 is no exception.

The Recon 1 is a pretty nice knife in my opinion. Made in Japan, by the way. It is completely ambidexterous and that should be of interest to the lefties. Balance and action are excellent. The Ultra Lock is like the other types on the market such as the Axis lock and works in a similar manner. Overall it's a nice design. If I were in the market for a 4" bladed tactical folder, this one would get some serious consideration from me. Given the locking mechanism and overall fit and finish, I think the Recon I is a good value. I can tell you it's very popular. We've been shipping them out as fast as we can get them.
